I've seen the same weirdcore, dreamcore and nostalgiacore images being spread around, and I wanted to share a few unpopular (and never-seen-before pictures from yours truly x) pictures with y'all :')
I use Pinterest for the majority of pictures I find (other than the few I take personally), so all credit to the original posters <3
there may be more specific content warnings if a chapter could be triggering; like if blood or needles are shown for example, I will put a warning for that.

liminal space definition: the word liminal comes from the Latin word 'limen', meaning threshold - any point or place of entering or beginning. a liminal space is the time between the 'what was' and the 'next.' it is a place of transition, a season of waiting, and not knowing. liminal space is where all transformation takes place, if we learn to wait and let it form us.

credit to aesthetics wiki for these definitions :)
weirdcore definition: weirdcore is an "online aesthetic and art movement" featuring digitally constructed or edited images to convey feelings of confusion, disorientation, alienation and nostalgia. also known as oddcore, strangecore and creepycore, weirdcore visuals are influenced by the general look and feel of images shared on an older internet. think amateur editing, primitive graphics, lo-fi photography and image compression-harshly blended together to trigger nostalgia for those who lived their childhood in any time ranging between the late 90s to mid 2000s.
dreamcore definition: dreamcore(or also known as a subcategory in weirdcore) is an aesthetic that is based around bizarre imagery and objects. it heavily relies on nostalgic things, or places you feel you may have seen in the past. a large part of this aesthetic is based aroundliminal spaces, and the unnerving feelings that come with them. they can be disturbing, off-putting, or confusing to the viewer. cursed images may be similar, but do not get them confused. some dreamcore isn't always unnerving, sometimes it could be a feeling similar to what you feel in your dreams, that includes the different categories that people feel in their dream's as well, (like warmth, nostalgia, loneliness, comfort, or greyness).
nostalgiacore definition: nostalgiacore is an aesthetic involving nostalgia and archived internet history. Most senses of nostalgia focus on childhood shows, snacks, trends, fashion, and video games.
traumacore definition: traumacore is a type of imagery that delves into the themes of abuse and trauma (particularly sexual trauma or CSA), though it's not strictly limited to physical or sexual abuse. mental, emotional, and spiritual abuse are also common themes as it pertains to traumacore. it often draws heavily on childlike and angelic themes, done so as a means to try and reclaim their innocence. traumacore in general tends to be more focused on trauma experienced in childhood, although adult trauma can also be covered. many people turn to these images to help them cope with the pain they suffered in the past. while many people say traumacore isn't inherently an aesthetic, many of the images used in its photo or video edits are derived from other aesthetics. traumacore is more of a type of art therapy or visual journaling for many people with trauma. it is worth noting that some people who have went through trauma and use traumacore have stated that traumacore is an aesthetic, (albeit a special kind of aesthetic) while others state that it isn't, since those without trauma may try to romanticize the experiences of traumatized individuals.
NOTE: all traumacore images are made by me. I don't feel comfortable putting other people's way of coping into this book without getting personal permission to. it just doesn't sit right with me lol.
UPDATE: i'm in a much better place than i was two years ago, so i will no longer be posting any traumacore images. so the point of this book is just sharing liminal spaces/pictures that loosely relate to liminal spaces since i think they're cool :3
