"OPEN THIS FUCKING DOOR NOW! LET ME OUT!" I endlessly banged my fists on the wooden door. "YOU CAN'T KEEP ME FOREVER IN HERE!" I thundered before kicking it one last time.

I swirled around and examined the room. A queen-size bed draped in blue sheets, two white nightstands on each side, a mini living room, a mini living room with a TV at the left corner, the bathroom, and a desk in front of the window to my right with a mini-fridge and a microwave.

"Come on, Xemina, think. Come on! You're not smart for nothing. Use that brain of yours."

I couldn't believe Mark jailed me. I asked this asshole to give me my dad's lawyer's contact, and as the coward he was, he had another plan. I needed to get out of here. I climbed on top of the desk and tried to twist the window's lock. Nothing.

"SON OF A BITCH!!" I slapped the glass. I looked down to the empty corridor. I was on the 8th floor. If I jumped, I would break my neck. What if I made a rope with the sheets? It worked in movies, Nah? Fuck it.

I grabbed the desk chair, lifted it to my head.

"Your boyfriend calls you princess every day, so come on, Rapunzel! Let down your fucking hair." With sudden strength, I threw it. The chair's leg broke and bounced off the glass. I screamed and protected my head from getting hurt. Thankfully it landed on the bed and the chair on the desk. The window didn't break. I groaned with frustration and laid on the bed, staring at the chandelier. I would like to try the microwave later.

The door creaked open. Assuming it was one of the bodyguards checking because of the loud noise, I didn't bother to look up.

"Wow, you tried. Windows are tempered." A feminine voice said.

My eyes widened, and I flew my upper body to sit straight. "Maddie?"

It was very well, Maddie. I wailed of surprise. No fucking way. The last time I saw Maddie, I was 13, after the accident. She hadn't aged a bit. Her brown curly hair was still the same shoulder-length, her square glasses sitting perfectly in her freckled nose. She was smiling grandly at me with a suitcase and a bookbag. Why she had a suitcase? I would not be staying here for not even one night.

"Oh my Gosh, I can't believe it." I jumped in her arms. "Maddie, oh my God, I haven't seen you for so long!"

"Oh, look at you, now. You're all grown. The last time I saw you, you were so little."

"Congratulations to you for not being old yet."

She grimaced, and I chortled.

"Come on! Sit." I indicated to her the sofa. "What happened to you after I left?"

"Well, I got demoted to the 23rd floor." She put down the backpack and sat next to me.

"What?" I gasped. "Why?"

"According to Mark, I am too "incompetent" to be his assistant." She sighed and rolled her eyes.

"That is ridiculous. You were my dad's assistant for three years. Why didn't you quit?"

"I get attached easily. After Mr. Royal's past, it was hard for me to start somewhere else, so I accepted my fate."
