After breakfast, the Commander called everyone to meet in the courtyard. He needed to discuss something with us. Of course, I already knew what that was. Being a higher up had its advantages.

I knew the Commander was going to introduce us to the new recruits, and only a select number of people knew where they were from and why they were here. I didn't know why they were here, but I'm sure Erwin did and I was going to get it out of him later. Once all of the soldiers were gathered in the courtyard, we saluted Commander Shadis.

I saw three soldiers walk up on stage with him. The first was a girl with bright, green eyes; and reddish hair in two ponytails. She had a determined smile on her face. Seeing her smile made me want to smile, but I didn't. I just continued looking with my 'stern looking' resting face. The second was a short, raven-haired boy with sharp blue-grey eyes. He wore a cold expression on his face. 'And people thought I looked unapproachable.' I thought to myself sarcastically. The third and final recruit was a tall boy with dirty blonde hair and sky blue eyes. He wore a calm expression and I found myself getting lost in the depths of his kind eyes.

Before I became too consumed in the orbs of the gentle looking boy, Commander Shadis spoke. "These are our three new soldiers, who you will be fighting alongside. Please introduce yourselves." The short energetic girl spoke first. "I'm Isabel Magnolia, nice to meet ya all!" The same determined smile was plastered on her face as she pointed her thumb towards herself.

"I'm Furlan Church," the tall blonde boy spoke next, while grinning and attempting to salute. I mentally laughed, as he was definitely not saluting correctly. Last and least, well at least in the height department, the short boy spoke. "Name's Levi," he said. His expression never changed and his arms were crossed in front of his chest. Chills ran down my spine as his smooth, dark voice kissed my ears and flooded over me.

I couldn't shake the idea that Levi, whoever he was, seemed familiar. 'Maybe I met him once in the Underground?' I thought to myself. It didn't really matter though. I didn't want to think about my life back then, and I'm sure he felt the same way. "Now," Commander Shadis spoke drawing me out of my thoughts. "I am placing these three under L/n's squad." "What?!" I practically screamed. 'Shit I didn't mean to say that out loud,' I thought trying to compose myself. Shadis glared at me. "Is there a problem with that Captain L/n?" He spat. "No sir, none at all."

"Good. Now everyone is dismissed," Shadis said, and everyone went back to whatever they needed to do that day. Hange, of course, ran up to me. "Oh my goodness, Y/n! You get to train the new recruits. They are so lucky!" Hange said excitedly. I saw the three recruits making their way towards me. It was difficult to hold in my excitement. I couldn't believe Shadis had picked me for their Captain.

I think I could have actually jumped for joy, if I hadn't been trying to play it cool in front of my new subordinates. Especially that Levi, he really drew me in. It took everything in me not to stare at him. From the way he walked, to the way the wind blew his perfectly styled hair. It was almost too much for me to handle.

Hange raced over to the group of three and introduced herself ecstatically. I followed behind her, and after she shook every one of their hands, including the shorty's though it seemed he did not want her to touch him, she skipped away. "Hello, I'm Y/n L/n and it's nice to meet all of you. I can show you around and training will start tomorrow." I said slightly smiling. "Nice to meet you too!" Isabel beamed. Furlan just gave me a small wave and a smile, while Levi seemed to be completely uninterested in what I had to say.

His dark eyes bore into me and it seemed like he was looking right at my soul, inspecting to see if it had any dust or grime. I tried not to shudder at the cold eyes that pierced my skin. I showed them to where the necessities were and then led them to the sleeping quarters. "Here are the boy's barracks, so Levi and Furlan you will be staying here." I said and Furlan nodded. "Wait, I don't get to stay too?!" Isabel whined, looking at me. "I'm sorry, but the girl's sleeping quarters aren't too far." I said, trying to cheer the girl up.
