10. Mishaps Perhaps

"Would you look at that?" Alora chuckled and walked over to the glass that Jun knocked over last night, tiding it up so students wouldn't be stepping on the broken glass. The fairy conjured a known spell – she let the glass pieces levitate in front of her before letting it disappear into thin air in a little swirl.

"Aaaaloooorraaaa!" a loud, happy voice made her look to the right and Alora was quickly run over in a tight bear hug by her best friend Cécilia. "Happy New Year, my love! Tell me everything! How did the evening go?! I'm so sorry I wasn't there; I wish I could've met Lisa. The photos you sent looked like so much fun!"

Alora smiled and pointed towards the door. "Let's head to the big hall. I wonder what's so important that Florence wants us all there although there are no classes for the next three days." Cécilia nodded. "I can wait a few more minutes for you to tell me all the juicy details."

The two of them walked inside the building and quickly made their way to the ball hall. A lot of students were already standing in the middle of the big room, some sitting. Those who were sitting didn't look too good – after all they were heavily ringing in the New Year.

Florence and Isolde stood on the side and waited until no more students entered, then walked towards the front. "Good morning fairies! I'm sorry to call you up on the first day of the new year but our librarian Isolde and I are already working a little ahead. I'll leave the word to her now."

Isolde exhaled with a small huff, her dress moving as she looked around the hall. "My sweet students, I want to make a request. Every month I check up on all books to make sure you're not above the expiration date of issue, so when I see there are books who are being used longer than two months by the same student, I'll have to call them to retrieve the book or they'll get their first strike. As you know a general of three strikes will get you suspended and a total of three expulsions from Alfea will lead to permanently leaving Alfea. It might still be early in the morning for you but I was working in the library for a few hours now and there are books missing. The thing is – nothing is missing from the books in the system, meaning it's none of those who burrowed them with their student ID, but those which were just sitting in the bookshelves. So, either they disappeared by themselves, with magic for example, or some of you have taken them without letting me know. Whatever the case may be, I'd kindly ask for you to return all books you are currently reading. Once I can put them all neatly back into the system you can gladly pick them up again like you'd usually do!"

Florence gently squeezed her shoulder. "Thank you, Isolde. So, please, dear fairies. Look into your suites and return each and every book you have lying around. If you are really in need of the book or have a specific page open you can gaily leave a bookmark inside and tell Isolde you'd like to have it back and not lend it to another student. Let's all work together and find the missing books – we'd like to have them all collected within one week. And please tell all your friends about it too, I see not all the students have gathered here. That would be all for now, we let you know if we have updates or other concerns. Enjoy the rest of your free days!"

Everyone thanked Florence and the two Alfea staff members made their way out of the hall as well as all the other fairy students.

"Wanna go into the suite? Are you staying the last days here in Alfea until classes continue or are you going back home?" Alora and Cécilia looked around and the light fairy sighed. "My dad's birthday is tomorrow so I'll have to stay home. But I'll be back in two days, I think. Speaking of Solaria, let's sit down somewhere and we talk about your little prince." She winked at a blushing Alora; she too was excited to hear more about Jun's life in Solaria.

They decided to take a seat in the hall and hastily made their way back to the long table before Cécilia continued. "Sooo? You said he came up to your balcony, all Romeo and Juliette style, or rather...a different version. But – tell me! How did Lisa react to him?!"
