Yawn.
After a long day of messing around, it was finally coming to an end. Hero, Kel and Aubrey waved off Omori as he left back into whitespace, leaving the three alone in their colorful little environment. Hero wiped his eyes a bit, smiling at the two beside him.
"Well, it's been a fun day.. but it's naptime now. I don't know about you, but I'm tired."
Hero stretched out his arms, yawning once more as Kel and Aubrey whined.
"Ahhh, but we're not sleepy!"
"Yeahh, what he said!"
They both looked at Hero with a pleading look in their eyes, as he let out a little sigh.
"You guys'll be tired soon, trust me. I don't need you passing out in the middle of nowhere if I let you two run off."
"Awwww..."
Aubrey felt her shoulders slack, Kel putting an arm around her, as if they both had just gone through a terrible loss. Hero couldn't help but chuckle at how dramatic they were, as he sat and began to lay down.
"Rest well, you little rascals."
Hero cooed, in the most loving and sweet tone he could muster, making Kel and Aubrey giggle. Not long after Hero, they both laid down beside each other, only a little ways apart. Kel crossed his arms behind his head, as he stared up into the sky. Aubrey was doing the same.
Both felt too energetic, though they haven't even tried to rest yet they both knew it wasn't gonna happen quick. Aubrey sighed, simply watching as the stars in the sky moved across the violet backdrop.
They stared, and stared, and stared.
"Hey, Aubrey."
Kel turned over to face her, and upon hearing her name she turned to face him back.
"Hm?"
"Are you awake?"
He joked, a small grin forming on the edge of his lips as he did so. Aubrey gave him a deadpan, with a halfhearted snicker.
"Nope."
"Awwww, darn, I was really hoping you were. I just cant seem to fall asleep.."
She giggled a bit.
"And if I were, how exactly would I help you sleep?"
"I dunno, making fun of you always eases my nerves."
At that Aubrey huffed, booping his nose aggressively as he snickered, batting her hands away. She grumbled,
"On a serious note."
Aubrey gave him a half-lidded tired stare, as she continued.
"I don't know how i'll ever fall asleep! I'm just not comfy.. maybe its too cold."
She whined, and Kel couldn't help but silently agree. He wondered how Hero fell asleep so peacefully every night. Sure, Kel usually hadn't had much struggle sleeping either but when he did he couldn't seem to comprehend why Hero didn't experience the same.
He stretched out, looking back up at the sky and trying to think. Cold, yeah. Maybe thats it.. and comfort. A better sleeping position maybe? Eh, what does he know? He puffed his cheeks out in a pout. He glanced back at Aubrey, looking at her expression as she blankly stared at the sky as well. Clutching Mr. Plantegg tight in her arm, like usual...
A little cuddle buddy, thats what the eggplant always was.
