NIKKI-GRACE LIM SIDE STORY

It's now six in the evening. Nakadiretso na kami sa isang shopping mall para makabili ng damit at sapatos para sa akin. Pero bago nito para makatipid sa nilalaman ng pera sa ATM card ni Sophie na iniregalo ni daddy Paul, marahan lang siyang ini-withdraw na mahigit kumulang na sampung libong piso. Pagkatapos ay kumain pa kami sa restaurant, dumiretso kami sa videogame arcade tulad ng halimbawa na isang synchronized dance move game, at nanood pa kami ng sine.

It's now ten in the evening. The mall will definitely close in a few moment as other people went out. Nakabitbit pa ang nadala naming mga nabiling damit at sapatos para sa akin. While we were waiting for riding a taxi, ang pangamba ko na baka mag-aalala ang kanyang tito, tita, at cousin niya.

"May I suggest you?" I said.

"Yes?" Sophie said.

"I thought na pag-uwi natin," I said, "ikaw mauna pumasok sa bahay. Ako naman mag-stay muna sa labas habang hinihintay ko na lumabas ka at magbukas ka ng gate para makapasok ako dito, kung natutulog na silang lahat."

"Bright idea, Nikki," she nodded. "But fortunately, napag-isipan at nakapaghandaan ko na 'yung plano ko."

"Really?" I said.

"Yup," she said. "Kung hindi ako mapabuti ang planong ito, baka mahuhuli nila tayo. Ang masaklap nito, ang tingin nila, tresspasser ka. That would never happen as much as possible."

"Sige," I said, "good luck na lang."

The time is now 10:30 p.m, riding in a taxi. About more or less 10 to 20 kilometers left to go before we will be arrived at the house of Tito Santi, Tita Lucy, and her cousin Miley.

But Sophie's smartphone is ringing. I thought it was a call from her tita.

SOPHIE: Hello?

TITA LUCY: Si tita Lucy ito. Nasaan ka na?

SOPHIE: Pauwi na ako galing mall.

TITA LUCY: Anong ginagawa mo doon?

(Sophie looked over me, avoiding telling her tita that she was with me.)

SOPHIE (lying): Wala, nag-isa lang po ako namasyal para mapahanap ang comfort zone ko.

TITA LUCY: May kasama ka bang kaibigan?

SOPHIE (lying): Wala rin po.

TITA LUCY: O sige, mag-ingat kang pauwi, ha?

SOPHIE: O sige po, bye.

The time is now 10:40 p.m. Instead na ma-arrive kami na malapit sa bahay niya, ini-stop lang dito na bandang 15 meters away. Bumaba na kami sa pagbiyahe namin ng taxi. I wonder why, though this was part of her own plan.

"Hanggang dito na lang tayo, Sophie?" I asked.

"Oo," Sophie said. "Dito ka lang muna, friend, ako muna pumasok sa bahay. Pagkatapos nang tulog na 'yung yaya namin pati na sina Tito Santi, Tita Lucy, at coz' Miley, tatawagin na kita sa hawak mong murang cellphone na binili ko sa 'yo. 'Pag binuksan ko na ang gate, kailangan mo nang dalian at pumasok ka na dito."
