"Help! My wife is pregnant and is having stomach pains!" Mr Maase shouts across the hospital hallway. "What's your wife's name, sir?" The nurse behind the counter asks. "Margret Maase. She's been coming here for her gynae appointments, she should be in the system." Mr Maase replies, foot tapping nervously on the floor. "How long has this stomach pain been lasting?" The nurse asks, her eyes glued to the computer screen in front of her. "About an hour now." Mrs Maase grunts through the pain. "Okay, go straight and turn left to door 30." The nurse instructs. "Thank you so much." Mr Maase smiles before wheeling her along. "Hang in there baby." He places his hand on her shoulder and massages it lightly.

As soon as they enter the doctor's room, Mr Maase helps Mrs Maase up onto the bed. Her gynae instructs her on what to do and checks on the condition. "You're about 2 cm dilated already. Mrs Maase, you're in labour." The gynae informs us. Both their mouths open wide from the information. "But I'm only 28 weeks pregnant. I still have 8 more weeks till I'm due!" Margret raises her voice in panic. "I understand that you're not due yet but you're already contracting. The baby looks okay, and her head is going into labour position which is a good sign. Don't worry, my team and I will help you throughout this whole process." The gynae reassures the couple.

The nurses help to wheel Mrs Maase into the delivery room while Mr Maase changes into the hospital gown to prepare for the arrival of their daughter. This was not how they expected that day to go but now that they know, they just cant wait for her to come.

"Push as hard as you can." The nurse directs Mrs Maase. Although she has been in labour for only 4 hours, their precious daughter is already ready to come out. Mr Maase uses a towel a wipes the sweat off his wife's forehead as she pushes. "You can do it, you're so strong Margret." He cheers for her. With that encouragement, Mrs Maase pushes as hard as she can one last time causing their daughter to finally be born. Even though the hard part is over, the scary part is here. Mr and Mrs Maase hold each other's hands as the room stays still and quiet. This is not how the room should sound, it should be filled with cries and tears of joy.

The doctors and nurses immediately lay her down in her little bed and strap on all their medical equipment to check her vital conditions. After what felt like eternity, her gynae turns to look at the couple who's embracing one another and shakes her head, apparently the worse is yet to come.
