the door shut behind you
the lights flickered
the house rocked to and fro
and my sobs surrender to my knee caps

the floor cracked where each tear fell
knotted hair laid on the hardwood
tickling my toes
that air is vacuumed from my lungs
and my heart is in the bottom of my stomach
