Background of how he met his dragon:
He took a walk in the woods to get some fresh air away from all the chaos in Berk. He mostly trains in the woods but as he was walking to a cove that he usually goes to just relax he sees an injured purple night fury wounded. As he took care of the dragon which he knows is a male night fury that he named midnight cause he could easily blend in at night. For two years he kept a secret of having a night fury until he found out that his little brother hiccup had a night fury and trained him.
