I was thinking to much to go to sleep. I carefully picked my way around Jake and Luke, and out the tent. Thalia was sitting on a log near a burning fire, looking at the sky.
"What are you doing?" I asked. She looked at me with tears in her eyes. "Remembering." She must have seen the confused look on my face, because she added, "I'm looking at the stars. Or at least the few that you can see from here."
I looked up. I had never been into astrology, but there were a pretty good amount of stars out for New York. "There are a lot though." I told her. "No." Thalia replied. "I've been to places where you can see the whole galaxy." She made a big gesture with her arms.
"See that one constellation? It's my favorite." She pointed, and I looked up. I was expecting the Big Dipper or something, but I followed her gaze to one I wouldn't recognize if my dad hadn't pointed out a couple years ago. "The huntress." I said racking my brain for the name. She just nodded. "Her name is Zoe, Zoe Nightshade." Looked back at her. "Like our Zoe." It wasn't really a question. "Yeah, a lot like her. I'm guessing that's why she was named that." Thalia said. I started noticing that she would talk to boys when Sofi wouldn't. But both of them wouldn't come close to me Jake or Luke.
I looked back up. The huntress looked like a girl, running across the sky with a bow. It was really nice. "You should go to sleep. Trust me, you'll need it." I looked at Thalia who seemed on the verge of tears.
I walked back into the tent. The moment my head hit the pillow, sleep took me.
I woke up to Luke shaking me. "Thalia says we have to go now." I groaned, but slowly got up. Jake was already heading out the tent. I was not a morning person.
Once I stepped out the tent shrank to a little square. Yes, because that's just totally normal. Sofi roughly tossed me an orange. It startled me and hit my forehead. Not a good start to the morning.
I ate my orange as we walked through the dew covered woods. "When are we going to be there?" Jake asked. "We've been walking for ages." Thalia and Sofi just ignored him.
Soon we got to the bace of a hill. To our right was a road. "Seriously!" Bianca shouted. "We could have driven here?" I was surprised when Sofi replied. "No, it would have been more obvious. plus I don't know how to drive." It was Salena's turn to speak now. "What about Thalia?" We all glanced her way. "I prefer not to." was her only response.
There was a large pine tree at the top of the hill. on one of it's branches, something was glistening. And underneath that, was something big and... Alive?
We marched up to the top. And on the branch was some type of sheep skin. And the alive thing was- "A dragon!" What was a dragon doing on the top of this hill wrapped around a pine tree? What was a dragon doing existing?
"Yeah." Thalia replied casually. "I'm sure you'll learn all about my past here." What did she mean her past? Questions were streaming through my head.
"Come on." Sofi and Thalia started down the other side of the hill. that's when I noticed it.
It was probably the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. "So this is 'camp'." Zoe said. It definitely looks like a camp. There was one big building. And a bunch of smaller cabin-like buildings. There was also a lake, a strawberry field, stables by the looks of it, but what really caught my eye was the climbing wall. "Is that lava?" I asked. Thalia chuckled. "Yup. It adds a little extra challenge."
"Cool!" Was all I had to say. "how unsafe." Bianca mumbled."Come on, let's get you a tour guide. We need to get back to the Hunt." Thalia led to the biggest building, It was a baby blue color. On the porch an old man in a wheelchair and a younger guy, dressed in all black, were talking.
"Hey pinecone face." the goth dude said. "Death breath." Thalia replied, while punching his arm playfully. "Hey can you take these kids on a tour while we talk to Chiron?" She asked. "we need to tell him about their parents." 'Death breath' tilted his head. "And who are their parents?" He asked Thalia. "The seven." She said sadly. "Oh gods. Come on guys, I'll show you around." We left Sofi and Thalia with the Chiron dude.
"So, Greek mythology. do you know about it?" He asked us. "Yes." me and Luke said. I had researched it and Luke helped. He's pretty smart for a 7 year old. "Well. They're all real. For example, Chiron over there, is the centaur Chiron that trained all those ancient heroes." We all stopped in our tracks. "You're joking. I mean...That guy's in a wheelchair." Lily said. "No I'm not. I'm a demigod. Nico, son of Hades." We all stared at him. "but we're not demigods. We have both our parents. And what did Thalia mean by 'the seven'? last I checked, we had eight parents in total." Nico sighed. "Let's start from the beginning. You guys have a lot to learn about your family."
