Y/n Pov:

The conch shell blew, and I marched up the hill to the pavilion. Satyrs joined us from the meadow. Naiads emerged from the canoeing lake. A few other girls came out of the woods. Annabeth sat alongside her siblings at the Athena table, while I sat alone at the Artemis table. As always, I brought a book, but today I didn't read it. I daydreamed instead.

What? I like it.

As the sun went down two streaks of my hair that usually cup my face, turned silver. It happened in the night. According to the intensity of the moon, more of my hair turned silver. Tonight mustn't have been a very intense moon.

Finally, Chiron pounded his hoof against the marble floor of the pavilion, and everybody fell silent. He raised a glass.

"To the gods!"

Everybody else raised their glasses.

"To the gods!"

The wood nymphs came forward with platters of food.

"F/d," I spoke to my glass.

After the glass filled I took a sip and put some food on my plate. I got up and walked over to the fire.

"Artemis," I said, and dropped down all of my mooncakes and some big juicy grapes, which I know, are her favourite.

I went back to my seat and enjoyed the food. After I finished Chiron pounded his hoof again for our attention. Mr D got up with a huge sigh.

"Yes, I suppose I'd better say hello to all you brats. Well, hello. Our activities director, Chiron, says the next capture the flag is Friday. Cabin five presently holds the laurels," he said in his monotone voice.

A bunch of ugly cheering rose from the Ares table.

"Personally," Mr D continued, "I couldn't care less, but congratulations. Also, I should tell you that we have a new camper today. Peter Johnson," he continued.

Chiron murmured something.

"Er, Percy Jackson," Mr D corrected. "That's right. Hurrah, and all that. Now run along to your silly campfire. Go on."

Everybody cheered. We all headed down toward the amphitheatre, whereApollo's cabin led a sing-along.

Luke: Oh, things couldn't be worse
When your parents run the universe

All: Oh, things couldn't be worse
When your folks run the universe

Luke: My dad is Hermes
He messengers things
You'll know his sign by his shoes with those wings
I'd wait by the phone, but the phone never rings
Oh no

We all agree.

Luke: When your dad's a god, life can be tough
I met the guy once, and once was enough
Annabeth?

Annabeth: My mom's Athena
She's smart and she's wise
She's sworn off gluten and she's sworn off guys
But if she came to camp, it'd be a surprise
Oh no

Luke and Y/n: Oh no

Annabeth: Oh, and my stepmom, she hates me, and my dad works all-day
So I left Virginia and I ran away

Percy: Wait, is that true?

Luke: Everybody!

All: Oh, things couldn't be worse
When your parents run the universe

Oh, things couldn't be worse
When your folks run the universe

Luke: Alright, who's next?

Y/n: Oh! Okay, let me see...

Y/n: My mom's Artemis
She's loyal and proud
But a Latina from Britain came to look around
And then my mother heard the ultrasound
Oh no

All: Oh no

Y/n: For seven years she left me alone
And now this camp is my only home!

Grover: Ooh, ooh! My turn!

Grover: I'm a child of Pan
God of the wild
For those who love nature, they're often beguiled
He's not really my dad, but I'm sort of his child...
Oh no...

All: Oh no

Grover: He went for a hike to explore new frontiers
And no one has seen him for thousands of years

All: Oh, things couldn't be worse
When your parents run the universe

Oh, things couldn't be worse
When your folks run the universe

Percy: Chiron! Who's your dad?

Chiron: Oh, well

My father is Kronos
Remember my lecture
He ate his children

Y/n: Chiron wins

Everyone is agreeing.

Y/n: How about you Silena?

Silena: The goddess of love
My mom's Aphrodite
She tries to be cool but mainly she's flighty
I'll bring home a boy, and she's there in her nightie

All: Oh no!

Silena: It's so embarrassing, guys!

I tried to seek help from even the fates
Cause she steals my mascara and all of my dates

Luke: Alright, Percy, it's your turn

Percy: If I tried to sing, it'll probably cause an avalanche

Y/n: Oh, we're all friends here. Come on, give it a shot

Percy: My mom was named Sally
She loved scary movies
And food that was blue
And-

Katie: He's doing it wrong

Silena: Yeah, who's your godly parent?

Percy: Oh... I don't know

Luke: It's alright A lot of half-bloods never know their godly parent. Just give it a try

Percy: So my dad is some god
That's great I guess...
Did he not want me? Or not want the stress?
Too bad he's the worst, and my life is a mess. Oh no

We all cheer.

Percy: I hope he shows even a trace
Cause I got some choice words to throw in his face!

All: Oh, things couldn't be worse
When your parents run the universe
Oh, things couldn't be worse

Y/n and Will: But I don't care where our parents may be
As long as you are here with me

All: We don't care where our parents may be
As long as you are here with me
As long as you are here with me!

We all cheered and laughed. I hugged my cousins and went over to where Annabeth was to congratulate her on singing. We sang more campfire songs and made S-mores.

Later in the evening, when the sparks from the campfire were curling into a starry sky, the conch horn blew again, and we all filed back to our cabins.

I said good night to my cousins, Annabeth, Luke and Percy and skipped to my cabin. I closed the door and let the bioluminescent stars on my ceiling shine as I got ready for bed. I slept that night, looking peacefully at the stars.
