the thing about an addicted parent is there never really a parent figure
they'll call you ever once in a while to be nosy, and stay familiar
but they will always just be addicted
addicted to the person in their small minds they've depicted
addicted to their alone time when you were not in their way
it's not like they'd care until you get somewhere someday
but do you know what I call an addicted parent
i call them a person who failed to stay long enough to raise them
a person who had their priorities scattered
and their precious dreams shattered
but what can I do at the end of the day
when I wasn't even a reason for them to stay
