I am not Japanese, so I tried to project my outlook on them for this story! I envision them as a little workaholic and slightly naïve, but they are really caring towards everybody and believe in their legends very strongly.

Few meaning for words:

Nashi: Asian pear / the crisp apple-shaped fruit of a tree that is native to Japan and China and cultivated in Australia and New Zealand.

Shoji: Sliding door / (in Japan) a sliding outer or inner door made of a latticed screen covered with white paper.

Kotatsu: a low, wooden table frame covered by a futon, or heavy blanket, upon which a table top sits. Underneath is a heat source, formerly a charcoal brazier but now electric, often built into the table itself.

Futon: a padded unsprung mattress originating in Japan, that can be rolled up or folded in two.
