The First days back

It has been two days. Two days since Jim Lake turned back time and reset everything. He directed his best friend Toby to the canals to pick up the amulet. He set his mom up with Strickler. He auditioned for the school play, this time he used lines from the play instead of the destiny speech- since he now already knew basically everything about the play and managed to grab Claire's attention. So far, everything was going great.

Jim was sitting down on his bed in his room. His mom and teacher were having dinner he made from them downstairs. He and Claire had exchanged numbers and they had just got off the phone talking about the play as well as other stuff such as school and their studies, etc. He last spoke to Toby that day at school. Jim sighed and placed a hand to his forehead. Jim realized that Toby was beginning to keep a distance from him. Jim knew it was about trollhunting, but whenever he walked up to Toby to enquire on things, Toby would just brush them off.

-----------------------------Earlier that day---------------------------------

"Hey Tobes."

Jim placed his right arm on Toby's right shoulder, causing the said boy to turn and look at him.

"Mm? Oh, hey Jimbo. What's wrong? You don't look like yourself today."

"That's what I wanted to ask you. I feel like you've been avoiding me recently. Is something wrong?

"What? NO! No! Everything's going well man. I'm totally not hiding anything from you. No way. Nothing. By the way, how's the play going?" Toby inquired. Jim sighed and looked towards the concrete floor. He was trying to change the subject on purpose. He wanted to be by Toby's side when he went out trollhunting. But, it was Jim's idea to direct his best friend to the canals. He looked back up at Toby and gave him a forced smile.

"The play? It's going great. It's all great." Jim replied

"That's great. You're getting to spend more time with your crush-" Jim playfully rolled his eyes before Toby continued, "though, I am curious a bit. I might have overheard some people talk about your audition and they said you ABSOLUTELY BLEW THEM OFF," Toby said, waving his two hands in the air. "How'd ya get so good at acting?"

"Eh. It's not that hard. Maybe I'm a natural?" Jim replied, shrugging his shoulders.

Before Toby could reply, someone else had. "You are a natural. It's like acting is in your blood." The two turned around to see Claire standing there.

"Hey, what's up Nunez?" Toby asked, waving a hand into the air.

"Hi Colby," Claire waved back

"It's Toby, actually." he replied. Jim chuckled softly, that didn't change.

Claire didn't reply him and walked up to Jim. They spoke for a while about the play while Toby was talking to someone on his phone for a while. At one point during their talk, Jim sighed sadly. The Claire in front of him wasn't the Claire he wished he had. This Claire had no idea of what they had went through. Together. Sometimes, he wished this Claire knew what they went through. It was so hard just not to pull her closer to him or kiss her.

"Yeah, there's another rehearsal this Friday and- ," Claire paused to glance at Jim. "Uh, Jim, are you ok?"

"Hm? Oh yeah. I'm fine."

"You sure?" Jim looked back at her and smiled.

"Positive."

"Ok then.. I guess I'll head back now. See you tomorrow, Romeo." Claire tucked a strand of hair back behind her ear and waved at him as she made her way out of school.

"Yea.. see you tomorrow Juliet," replied Jim, watching her leave. Once she was out of sight he turned to Toby who was grinning madly.

"You seriously need to man up and ask her out." Toby said after some time. Jim grinned back.

"Yea... sometime."

"Jim?"

The time-travelling trollhunter came back from his memories of that day and turned to face the door, where he saw his mom, who was peeking through the small opening. Jim turned to fully face her.

"Oh hey mom. Uhh, how was dinner?" Jim asked. Barbara smiled

"It was great, Jim. Wonderful even. Speaking of which, I just came by to say thank you."

"Oh, really? What for?" Jim asked, knowing why she was thanking him, inside. On the outside, however, he had to act like he had no clue whatsoever. Barbara sighed softly before saying,

"For being okay with Walter. I thought it was going to be hard for you, ever since that, well, you know, incident 10 years ago. But really Jim, thank you for introducing Walter to me."

Jim smiled at his mom. "After all she's been through, she deserved to be happy." Jim thought to himself.

"I'm happy you're happy mom."

"What did I do to deserve you? Night kiddo."

"Yea, night mom." Jim said as Barbara shut the room door.

Somewhere around the world, in a cave with its location unknown to all, an old man, well, a master wizard, woke up gasping and couching and he sat himself upright.

"Bloody hell," he mutters to himself before shouting out to no one, "Why have I woken up? Where is the trollhu-"

He cuts himself short, for beside him is an amulet. An amulet he has never seen before. He took it in his hands and inspected it all around. [You know which amulet I'm talking about :)]

"For the good of all? Daylight is mine to command? What the bloody hell is this sorcery?"

He was pondering on the amulet when it hit him. [Not the amulet but a thought lol]

This was the amulet of Daylight, just new and improved. The magic inside it told him it came from a future no longer. Suddenly, there was a flash of light and the amulet's hands were spinning like they were gonna take off. Merlin closed his eyes and watched his memories of the past timeline come back to him.

Start of memories [bold indicates them, normal text indicates present thoughts]

He woke up, started coughing cobwebs outta his mouth, and laid back down before looking at Jim.

"Are you the trollhunter?"

Merlin frowned; the first human trollhunter looked too skinny

Jim was slicing through the waters to protect them when they were still in his tomb.

Another memory came back as he was talking to Jim in his house alone.

"You must be both troll and hunter"

"Ah, so I turned this boy into... something"

Another memory showing him fighting the Arcane Order in Wizards: Ep.1

"The Arcane Order?"

The next memory shows him being killed by Arthur and talking to Douxie before he dies

"I was slain by Arthur?"

His last one is talking to Douxie the last time, instructing him to take care of Nari

"You must protect Nari. No matter what. Promise me that"

"I left Nari in the protection of my clumsy apprentice? What was I thinking?"

The amulet showed Jim in his new armor, fighting and defeating Bellroc.

"Impressive work, trollhunter"

Finally, it showed him Jim using the Kronosphere to go back in time.

End of memories

Merlin sat there shocked, realising what had happened. James had just left a timeline and entered a new one. How many times had he warned people not to mess with time? In fury, he shouted at the top of his lungs,

"JAMES!"

A/N: This is my first time writing a fanfic and frankly I'm still learning how it works lol. I couldn't find a better pic than that but if I do then I'll change it. But until then, that's the first chapter of my first fanfic :)
