Night air was cold, sharp enough to sting if you breathed too deeply. Clouds crawled in, swallowing the moon-almost like they were trying to hide something bad about to happen. Shadows stretched all over the campus, but inside the hostel? Not a trace of quiet. Girls laughing, jokes flying, voices bouncing everywhere.
But way up high, on the rooftop of Seoul University, a girl stood alone. She barely moved. Head hanging, fists clenched so hard her nails dug into her skin. Shoulders shaking-like she was seconds from falling apart.
"No, I can't take it anymore. I am tired, tired of everything," she said. It was barely a whisper, voice all broken up from holding it in too long.
She let out a long breath, wiped her face with her sleeve, and stared forward. Her eyes were hard now-no more tears, just cold. She'd made up her mind. This time, she wasn't turning back.

Her hair whipped around in the wind as she dropped from the rooftop. The world spun. She squeezed her eyes shut, heart slamming hard in her chest. Regret hit, fast and rough, just for a second. But it was enough to shake her. Millions of thoughts rushed in.
How will it feel when she hits the ground? Will it hurt, or will it end before she knows it? What happens after? Is there really anything else?
Time slowed. It felt wrong, like everything was stretching. Death felt close, almost like it was watching her, waiting for her to crack. Flashes of her life ran by-faces, voices, moments. One face kept coming back, like it had something to say. People say you see your best memories at the end. Were these hers? Why didn't she notice until now?
She opened her eyes a bit. A tiny smile showed up. Regret? Maybe relief? She couldn't tell. The only thing certain-death was close, almost here.
Then, she hit the ground. Hard.
Pain shot through her body. She couldn't move, couldn't scream. Her body stopped working. Suddenly rain started, first just a drop, then steady, soaking her.
Was the rain happy that she was going to die, or sad? No one would ever know.
Her once-favourite white hoodie, now wet and bloody, stuck to her. She sucked in one last breath, rough and noisy, and let it out slowly. Her eyes closed. It was over. But was it really over or just the beginning of everything?
Thunder cracked over the sky, echoing around the buildings, a witness to everything that happened.
All she did was hard work, but still she failed.
