"Ms. Ayaka, Elisse."

"S-sir?" Mabilis siyang napatayo mula sa kinauupuan nang marinig ang sariling pangalan. Pinagmasdan ni Elisse ang gurong nakatayo sa gilid ng pintuan. Dumako rin ang tingin niya sa mga kaklaseng nakatitig sa kanya. Mabilis siyang nakaramdam ng hiya, kaagad ding namula ang mga pisngi niya.

"Pinapapunta ka sa Principal's Office."

Naramdaman niya ang kaba at pagtatakang gumuhit sa kaloob niya, napapaisip kung may nasabi o nagawa ba siyang hindi kanais-nais. Bakit niya kailangang pumunta ro'n?

The teacher called her name again and she blushed with embarrassment for spacing out. She should learn how to be responsive even in the middle of her thoughts.

"S-sorry po," she apologized with a nod.

"Please also bring your bag and other things you have once you go."

Lalo siyang nakaramdam ng kaba ngunit sumunod din naman kalaunan. After gathering her things, she went out and ignored the stares from her classmates. It was a silent walk on the corridor and her mind drifted elsewhere until she found herself in front of a certain office.

Huminto si Elisse nang makarating sa tapat ng Principal's Office at tinitigan ang signage na naka-display sa upper top ng pinto. It was heavily designed in expensive carvings.

The bewildered student was still trying to figure out the reason why she's called. Ngunit alam naman niyang hindi malalaman ang sagot kung hindi siya papasok sa loob.

She took an audible gulp and knocked on the door thrice. Patingin-tingin pa siya sa paligid habang naglalakad papasok sa loob.

Isang sala set ang sumalubong sa kanya ─ a two-seater sofa, two single couches on each side, and a mini table with a few books atop and a flower base adorned with plastic flowers.. Mayroon ding flat screen TV na naka-install sa pader. Nilagpasan niya iyon at dumiretso sa bandang kaliwa kung nasaan ang opisina ng Principal.

Sa kanyang muling pagkatok ay may nagbukas na ng pinto para sa kanya. She looked down at her feet, inhaled, and exhaled as her eyes darted upward.

"Good morning ─" Elisse furrowed her eyebrows after recognizing the person in front of her ─ a wavy, chestnut-colored hair that falls just below its shoulder, charcoaled eyes, and a noticeable pale skin. "─ M-ma?"

Ngumiti ang ina niya sa kanya ngunit nanatiling tikom ang bibig. Mas lalo siyang nagtaka. Bakit siya nandito?

"Ms. Elisse," The Principal tried to get her attention and he succeeded. The man looked younger compared to its original age. "I know you're confused why you're here."

Elisse nodded. She wanted to speak but she thought she needed to listen first. Tumingin ang Principal sa mama niya at ganoon din siya.

"Hindi ka na rito mag-aaral, anak," her mother casually said.
