Years Later
The sand was a gentle tone of golden, warm and earthy between her toes as her dark raven hair swayed in the wind. Sounds of the ocean waves filled her ears as faint noises of cheerful giggles could be heard in the distance, causing a soft smile to grow on her face.
Her heart felt lighter in that moment as she slowly turned around and took in the beautiful sight before her. Her husband carrying their six year old daughter on his shoulders, their laughter filling the silence as he chuckled at the young girl shouting faster. Leia wanted to know how to fly and the young girl couldn't be happier.
Teresa silently watched her husband oblige to his daughter's wishes, feeling a swell of love and lazy happiness in her chest. His wedding band glistened in the sunlight as he protectively adjusted the young girl on his shoulders, careful not to drop her.
Leia giggled at her father, the rush of flying still in her veins as she glanced at the beach in front of them before her blue eyes sparkled in delight.
"Mommy!" She shouted, happily as she stretched her arms in her mother's direction. Her husband paused at his daughter's words and raised his head as their eyes locked, burning with intense love and passion. His lips unknowingly tilted up into a fond smile, a soft glimmer in his brown eyes at the mere sight of Teresa.
He slowly placed Leia back onto the ground who immediately ran towards her mother as brown hair strands fell on her forehead.
"Mommy, I missed you this morning." Leia spoke, sadly as her mother gently scooped her up into her arms."I'm sorry, sweetie. There was a lot of work to do at the Med-jacks hut." Teresa responded, softly as she tucked a loose hair strand behind her ear. A wave of guilt washed over her at the sadness in her daughter's voice, remembering Aris urgently needed her for the morning.
There was no other medic available since Brenda had morning sickness and Gally was too stubborn to let her go. So she asked Thomas for a day off from his daily run with Minho to take care of Leia.
"Then you'll have to just make it up to us...." Thomas spoke, quietly as he pressed a soft kiss on her forehead. There was a dull ache in his chest since her absence this morning, missing the feeling of his wife wrapped up in his arms as they watched the sun rise for a new day.
All he could do was bury his face into her pillow and breathe in her calming scent she left behind, wishing she would come back soon.
"Don't worry, I will...." Teresa responded, smiling seductively as her fingers slowly trailed his arm. She felt herself becoming lost in his brown eyes, remembering she hated leaving the warmth of his embrace this morning as she left him with their children.
Her chest ached, missing their morning kisses as she unknowingly moved closer to him. She felt a shiver spread through her body as she watched his brown eyes darkened at her words, intense electricity filling the air.
"Good...." Thomas muttered, quietly as he stared at her. He inwardly groaned at the thought of how they would make up later, feeling the magnetic pull between them. After years of being together, they still couldn't get enough of each other.
Leia silently stared at her parents as she rolled her eyes at their flirting and gently poked her mother's soft cheek, wanting her attention. Her twin brother wasn't here yet but she knew he was busy with Uncle Minho, Liam was one of the fastest kids in paradise after all.
"Is Liam still not finished yet?" Leia asked, softly as she lovingly nuzzled her mother's neck.
"He will be soon, sweetie." Teresa responded, breaking her staring match with Thomas as she turned her gaze onto her daughter. Her cheeks were flushed red, remembering the past nights they lost themselves in their heated kisses as their children remained asleep."Why couldn't I help you this morning?" Leia spoke, curiously as she stared at her mother. She loved learning new things, her knowledge having no limits that even a smirking Frypan called her the smartest little girl he has ever known.
"Wait till you get older." Thomas responded, amused as he gently stroked her wavy brown hair. A small smile grew on his face, watching her nod in agreement and spotted the stubborn glimmer in her blue eyes.
"I can't forget my little assistant, can I?" Teresa spoke with a laugh as she pressed a soft kiss on her daughter's eyelid and watched her giggle at her words.A large hand silently entwined with hers, recognising his familiar warmth as their fingers laced together like two puzzle pieces. Always meant to be.
Loud shouts suddenly broke the comfortable silence, causing their heads to turn towards the noise as they noticed Minho and Liam heading in their direction.
"Hey, shanks! Guess who I have!" Minho yelled, cheerfully as he gestured towards Liam who half-heartedly rolled his eyes."He's been a handful so I'm leaving him with you." He spoke, sarcastically as he patted Thomas's shoulder in mock reassurance.
"Dad, ignore him. I've been good." Liam responded, quietly as he stifled his laughter at his Uncle's antics. His tired blue eyes quickly turned vibrant at the sight of his parents and twin sister.Thomas chuckled at his best friend and watched him walk away but not before he cheekily ruffled his son's brown hair who playfully pushed his hand away. He knew Minho had to get back to his own family, Harriet and Ryan.
His son lightly tugged on his trousers with a warm smile as he turned his attention to the young boy and gently fixed his messy brown hair.
"Did you have fun with Uncle Minho, bud?" Thomas muttered, softly as he grabbed Liam's small hand."Me and Ryan had a race but Uncle Minho beat us both." Liam responded, a frown on his face as he gently squeezed his father's hand. He remembered challenging Ryan to a race, wanting to be a runner just like his father until Uncle Minho joined in with a smug look on his face.
"You'll win next time, sweetie." Teresa spoke, softly as she ignored Thomas's low chuckle. She slowly placed Leia onto the ground and grabbed her small hand as she fondly watched the twins grin at each other, their excited mumbling filling the air.
"Let's go home." Thomas responded, quietly as he saw his children nod in agreement before they went back to catching up with one another. It was a good thing they had a bigger hut built for them, closer to the beach. He glanced at his wife, only to see her staring back at him with her beautiful blue eyes full of adoration.
He felt a sudden rush of affection and bliss exploding inside his chest, feeling content with the little family he made with Teresa as he pressed a soft kiss on her pink lips.
Sometimes he couldn't believe this was his life, Teresa, Liam and Leia. He didn't know he could ever be this happy before but their time of being married and having the twins proved him wrong.
They were finally happy with their lives they built over the years, safe in paradise and away from the wicked world. The children's laughter and Teresa's mesmerising smile were the only things he could see in that moment.
Looking back these past years, they grew so much together as time healed their heavy wounds. The ocean tides crashed over the beach as four pairs of footprints became imprinted into the wet sand that day. The future was looking bright for the married couple.
Author's Note: This is the real end. It's been a while since I finished this book and I always wondered if I should write a epilogue or not. I thought it would a good way to show the aftermath and end their story on a happy note.
I literally wish they could have had this ending because they truly deserved each other and would have been lovers till the end if Teresa lived.
Thank you to everyone who read and enjoyed this story, your support meant a lot to me. I appreciated every single vote and comment, each brighten my day.❤️
