The school began today. the girls came to fetch me and we went along together. There are 34 of us in the class, The teacher teaches German and writing. She put us together on the 3rd bench. Then she made a speech, then she told us what books to get, but we are not to buy them till Monday. We have 3 intervals, one long and 2 shorts. The long one is for games, the short ones to go out. Today we hadn't any proper lessons. They are to begin tomorrow, but we don't know what. Then we came home. On our way, I kept thinking about the girls in the gymnasium. Ashley was talking about the gossip going on This gossip could not fail to have flown to Principal Sharp's ears. He was eminently a just man; but he seldom interfered in the girls' affairs, preferring to let his assistant, Miss Grace G. govern the young ladies. For the gossip having once begun to grow, there was no stopping it. Some of the girls had already begun to look at Hester when they passed her. Others whispered, and wondered, and surmised—and the wonder grew to like the story of the man who ate the three black crows.

Ashley said "he was really speaking as if he was very sure that the girls in the gymnasium didn't do anything wrong "

Ashely as always since her mother owns a beauty salon joined the fashion club pointing at me Meg said "what about you Hilary I didn't know what to choose so easily I said "I don't know "

Ashely said "join me we goanna have some fun "

Meg joking Said "what no way I remember the time when tried to join you guys just gossip and party "

they were arguing and I was lost with my thoughts when I saw the girls fighting in the railroads it was Hester and Lilly was fighting while their third friend Booby was there standing, Hester is the girl that was accused of causing the trouble in the gymnasium and causing the damage Some of the girls had already begun to look at Hester when they passed her.

Hester Grimes was not entirely happy. She would not admit it in her own soul, but she was lonely. Even Lily was not always at her beck and call as she once had been. To tell the truth, Lily seemed suddenly to have "a terrible crush" on a guy called Prettyman Sweet.

Hester did not care for dancing—not even for the folk dancing She played a sharp game of tennis, played hockey well, was a good walker and runner, and liked basketball as well as she liked anything.

They were screaming Hester Said "who said I did that? I went there because There was little to go to the gym. for just now, with the fixtures cut up and broken. I felt a curiosity to see the wreck. And there were other girls from the school. I heard them. They exclaimed and murmured that it was me "

Lilly with fear said "Hester it has nothing to do with me I was the same as you surprised "

she sat down and Lilly shouted "oh hey Ashely "

Ashely didn't hesitate a bit and said "hi girls, hey Lilly let me introduce you to my friends Meg and Hillary Meg is Mr., Petronius daughter you know the governor, and Hillary her father is Mr. Agnew the Doctor "

we said hi and we were about to leave when the twins Joann and Julia came with their gang they were really in a furious mood and as they approached Hester stood up, the girls were seven and we were six.

Joann Said "I guess you find yourself a new friend "

her sister Julia was very quiet she moved very close to Hester and was so close to hitting her when Mr., Billy came he is Hester's friend and the only person she spoke to in the gym, he was a widow with two children. When Jakeway got an hour or two off from the gym. he went to see his sister he spoke to us when

he said "there is heavy rain is coming you guys all better go off to your homes "

but Julia didn't plan to go without trying to harm Hester I was more aware of her hand movement when she throws that rock, I only remember my hand was quicker than I picked my bag so the rock won't hit Hester face, everyone was surprised and when Julia wanted to come my way but Hester was there, she mumbled with low voice "you deal with me first "

but Mr., Billy said "if this continues, I will inform the school board, Hester you and the girls wait for her and Joann take your sister and go home "

when the girls left Mr., Billy said to us "you guys take care those girls are crazy "

I was about to pick my bag when Hester handed me the bag

and she stared at me saying "your tall too that's good, thanks anyway ".

and she walked away when suddenly Lilly hugged me and said "take care Hilary "

while their friend Bobby waved with her hand and left, we were on our way home when

Meg said in a worried tone "you shouldn't be got in their way "

I was quiet until I reached the doorway

I said "she would have got hurt and hit her eyes "

I was trying to look cool in Infront of the girls but when got home I got the feeling like this is the start of something bad, in-home at dinner my parents asked me as usual about the school I said okay.

my dad asked "did you choose which club your goanna join? "

"Still thinking ...but tomorrow am goanna sign for one

my mom said "if it's troubling you or it's not quite easy on you to try to focus on your study and don't join "

"No mom it's okay " and I really hoped it will end in peace.
