Balance Castle Dream's Office

Dream sat at his desk Staring at a bundle of letters tied with a purple ribbon faded with time even though it had been stored in a bespelled vault the bundle had not completely escaped the ravages of time. The ribbon was faded as was the ink. The parchment was brittle and had to be handled with care. He dreaded and looked forward to this part of his week in equal measure every Friday he got to open one bundle of letters to him from Nightmare from the vault. It broke his heart learning just how much he had missed out on. But getting to know his brother again even if it was far too late was one of his greatest joys.

"You are never going to heal if you keep reopening the wounds every week." Powder lounged across the couch next to his desk watching Dream. He hated this part of the week. Dreamy always ended up in tears and cried himself to sleep. It was a hell of a way to end the week.

"I wouldn't heal anyway. I never did not in all the years between the apple incident and the fall. At least I can have some part of my brother with me this way." Dream slowly pulls the bundle closer.

"He wouldn't have wanted you to moren forever, you know." Powder sets up watching Dream but not stopping him.

"How do you know that Powder. I mean I know it but there are days when it feels like what I deserve. Surely he must have thought so too sometimes." Dream absently picked at the ribbon untying it. Looked his bodyguard and best friend in the eyelights hoping for an answer.

"I know with absolute certainty that he would never wish this pain on you, Little Spark. Because he loved you, and no one who loves you would ever want to see you hurt. I know because it rips me up inside to see you hurting so much." Powder flushes a bit admitting his feelings but holds Dream's gaze. After all Dream's emotional health was more important than his embarrassment about admitting his feelings this way.
