Narrator POV
A little bit of background, maya and lexy have been friends since they were 4 years old due to maya's mom Ethel being the organizer of every event and schedule for lexy's mom Michelle.
Maya met Oliver in 6th grade, Maya loved Lexy since 4th grade but she knew Lexy liked Junior and Oliver was really nice to her. She decided maybe dating him would help her move on from whatever odd feelings she had for Lexy.
But back to right now, Maya was at her locker with Oliver. He was telling her about something but she was zoned out. She found herself thinking of lexy and all their memories together like the trip they took last summer, or when they had sleepovers almost everyday of 4th grade. Lexy was all she ever truly thought about. She finally noticed Oliver when he started waving his hand in front of her face.
"Earth to maya? Babe did you hear anything I just said" he asked,frowning slightly
"Oh I'm so sorry! I was thinking about-" she didn't finish before he cut her off
"About someone else?"
"What? No! I was thinking about the big math test I have today, remember?" She only sort of lied , because she did have a huge math test today but she definitely wasn't thinking about math.
"Oh right, okay but can you come over after school today" he asked
She really wanted to see lexy after school but she didn't want to make Oliver sad either because regardless of her love for lexy, she really did love him.
"Yeah of course I can" she smiled at his now happier expression. He hugged her and she hugged him back. Lexy and Junior walked over just as they pulled away from the hug.
Lexy felt a slight wave of jealousy when she saw their hug and so did Junior. Lexy and Junior loved each other but they both knew about each other's crushes but nonetheless they still loved each other.
"What are you guys talking about?" Lexy asked
"Nothing much, we're hanging out after school" Oliver replied.
"Can we come?" Junior asked, knowing him and lexy wanted to hang out with them.
Oliver looked at maya to ask if it was okay, she gave him a nod of consent.
"Yeah sure you guys can come over too,we should get Jake and Devon to come over too." Oliver said, he was happy to spend time with his friends.
L A T E R
everyone was at Oliver's house, the lights were a dim purple, misery business playing in the background as they layed on the floor of Oliver's comfortable room
"Wanna play a game?" Oliver asked
They all agreed and choose spin the bottle
It landed on Lexy and Oliver.
Maya and Junior both felt angry and jealous as they watched two kiss, Junior wished he were Lexy in that moment and Maya wished she were Oliver.
After a while they stopped playing and decided to watch movies before lexy's dad came to pick up maya and lexy because maya was spending the night with lexy.
They'd gone upstairs and sat in silence for sometime before Lexy insisted on fixing Maya's hair so Maya grabbed the brush off Lexy's vanity and handed it to her before sitting on the bed
Maya was sitting in front of Lexy criss-crossed on her bed as lexy brushed her hair.
Lexy smiled softly, seeing maya's reflection in the mirror "You look so gorgeous" she whispered, running her hands through maya's hair.
maya blushed slightly sitting up straighter "and so are you" she smiled warmly.
Lexy put the brush down on her bed and moved maya's hair off of her shoulder.
Maya smiled and leaned back on lexy as lexy's arm wrapped around her in a hug
"Are you tired?" lexy asked
"a little bit" maya mumbled with a sleepy smile on her face
Lexy smiled at her, she adored everything about maya as maya also adored everything about her.
"Come on then" lexy said as she moved to the top of her bed laying down.
Maya crawled over to her and layed her head on lexy's chest as lexy's hands came down to maya's soft hair and they soon drifted to sleep.
Moments alone, like these made them feel overwhelming euphoria
