The September sun shone through the little crack in her curtains that Aquila had decided not to close the previous night. The light moving parallel to her wall, hit her in the face. She groaned. Her bright green alarm clock changed from 6:59 to 7:00 a.m. It chimed to the tune of 'Are you a Hippogriff?' by The Weird Sisters. Aquila dragged her tan arm towards the alarm clock and pressed the button on top to shut the music. She peeled open her bright teal eyes, more on the greenish side of the spectrum. She dragged her hand to her mouth to cover a yawn and lifted her body from her soft mattress.
Her legs wobbled slightly as she got to her bathroom, tired of having slept late the previous night. It was September 1st which meant it was her first day at Hogwarts, A school run under the Darkness of Magic, a ministry run by her father Lord Voldemort. Aquila honestly was only excited about Hogwarts because she would escape her tense mother's harsh gaze. 'Aquila, you are a Riddle. Stop acting so unsophisticated. Look at Delphini,' she would often say. But Delphini was just as bad as Aquila when it came to sophistication.
Aquila lazily look a quick, warm shower and brushed her teeth. She wiped her mouth on a white towel and used magic to tame her wild black-curly hair, which she knew she took from her mother. She massaged her eyes as she descended the stairs. Her family was already on the dinning table, very elegantly eating (except Delphini). Her Father was at the head of the table (Whenever Aquila would look at him, she would be thankful she had a nose, although hers was buttoned), Her mother was siting to his right, her Aunt Cissy was sitting right in front of her, Her Uncle (Lucius Malfoy, who was now Head Death-eater of the British District) was sitting to the left of Narcissa, Draco (her cousin which he spoilt to the core because 'I can spoil my sister if I want to father!') was to his left, Scorpius Malfoy(his mother had passed away tragically two years prior. it was a toll on Draco but surprisingly he managed to push through it. Scorpius was a carbon copy of his father) and Delphini (who was currently getting scolded) was sitting in front of Draco.
She quietly walked towards the table and sat beside Draco, her plate was already fixed. Two chocolate chip pancakes, lobster meat and baked beans on the side. 'mm mm. Delicious,' Aquila thought sarcastically as she dug in. "Aquila Harrius Black Riddle!" her mother yelled, "Elbows off the table! Eat properly you uncultured child." Aquila rolled her eyes as she leaned on her elbows even more, defying her mother's orders. She knew Bellatrix couldn't do anything besides scold her because she was terrified of what The Dark Lord would do if she hurt his heirs. And Aquila also knew that The Dark Lord wouldn't care about taking care of a child because, come on, he is Voldemort not a babysitter.
She forcingly gulped down as much as she could before rushing up to her cold room. Her room was mostly green, which was not a comforting color in her opinion. She would often paint her walls red or blue but they put be rubbed off by the house-elves later. A sigh escaped the eleven year-old's lips as she grabbed her 5000 galleon trunk with all her belongings locked inside and her pet Asp snake, Luca. Once she headed down, she spotted Draco with his green trunk, Scorpius with his trunk and pet and Delphini with hers ready to go to the Platform. They would floo there as far as Aquila knew. She had known her cousin was Potion's professor and much to their father's dismay, Delphini was appointed as the Dark Art and Defense Against Jinxes (formerly known as Defense Against the Dark Arts) Professor. Delphini had managed to convince Voldemort that she would be helping out by keeping an eye on the students.
Her mother didn't even bother saying goodbye as Aquila walked into the chimney. Draco had already travelled. She held out a fist full of Floo Powder in her hands and threw it to the ground yelling, "Platform nine and three quarters!" All three had managed to travel safely. The train had just arrived and students were huddling in. The three were about to head towards the train when Malfoy's ears picked up a, "Professor Malfoy!?" in the distance. Malfoy snapped his head towards the direction of the familiar voice. A smile broke onto the Senior Malfoy's face as he was tackled in a hug by a blob of messy jet black hair.
The blob of jet black hair had deep brown eyes with a defined face. His cheek bones were slightly protruding and his jawline seemed sharp. He was older that Aquila. A boy, with almond shaped, bright green eyes, very similar to Aquila's, and the same unkempt black messy hair, and a girl with hazel colored eyes and red hair. Two men and women appeared behind the three. One man, looked identical to the smaller boy, the woman to his right, looked a lot like the smaller girl but had brown eyes instead, the other man looked alike to the woman and the last woman had bushy brown hair with brown eyes. A sense of familiarity passed between the four adults and Draco. "Goodbye Albus, James," One of the men said. While the other said something along the lines of "Goodbye Rose." The red haired woman turned to Draco and whispered a, "keep them safe," before trotting off.
"My name's Albus Severus Potter," the younger boy introduced himself. "My name's Draco," Malfoy replied, "The one with blond hair is Delphini Riddle and the other ones, Aquila Harrius Black-Potter, she is your year. As well as Scorpius, my son." Aquila's heart started beating faster as the Albus's eyes met hers for the briefest second. She noticed how her sister gently kicked the lower back of Draco's crouched from. "This is Rose," James said, pointing to the girl beside him. Draco nodded and the seven boarded the train separately.
"What was that about!" Delphini yelled as they found a compartment in the pureblood's section. "He is my most personal favorite(?) student," Draco replied. "He is a Potter!" Delphini yelled. Aquila had heard of The Boy Who Failed from her father, never knew he had heirs. "I'm well aware," Draco snarled, "his father and Rose's parents were in my year." Delphini sighed and leaned against the window, Aquila copied her movement and leaned against Scorpius's shoulder. "You excited for Hogwarts?" Scorpius whispered. "I... don't know," Aquila replied.
