Strawberry Flavoured

"Why do you care anyway? Nobody cares," your voice cracked.

Softly, not trying to scare you, I scrunched up closer beside you. Your eyes were still locked on the tides.

"Why strawberry?"

You heaved a sigh.

For a moment all I could hear was the water - the currents and the riptides.

You looked up at me and the first thing I noticed were your glazed eyes. They were like waves trying to push through a dam.

I put an arm around you. You didn't protest. Then, your shoulders started shaking.

The dam broke, the waves crashed down and only your cheeks were getting wet.
