{Camilos POV}
"Psst.. Mirabel.."
"Mirabel..!"
"MIRABEL!" I shouted, shaking my cousins sleeping body violently.
"I'm awake!!" Her eyes shot open. I grabbed her glasses and handed them to her once she calmed down. She sat up, putting her glasses on with the most annoyed expression I've ever seen.
"What do you need now, Camilo? It's so early.." She grumbled.
"I need you to help me with something. Do you have any spare sewing needles, string and cloth?"
"No..? I don't, sorry. What do you even need it for?"
"It's for a friend! Her name is Y/N! And since you don't have anything to do, you're going to come shopping with me." I impatiently tapped the floor with my foot.
Mirabel only covered her face up with her sheets. I rolled my eyes, going over to the door to leave. Right as my hand touched the doorknob, I heard the sound of footsteps scurrying away.
"Dolores..?" I slightly peeked out the now open door to see my sister walking down a set of stairs.
"Dolores, wait up!" I rushed to get to her, but she picked up her pace. Why was she running away from me?
"Sis, you gotta go shopping with me!" I pleaded, finally catching up with her. She shook her head, taking a turn towards the kitchen.
"Why not?"
"Because last time we went shopping together you used up both of our savings!" She whispered yelled, setting a small basket on the counter.
"I had a good reason for buying all that junk, but I swear I won't spend as much today! I just need some sew-"
"Sewing stuff. I know, I know. And it's for your new friend, Y/N, who isn't allowed to do anything but cook and clean." My sister began to take freshly baked goods out of the basket. I swiped a tiny loaf of bread, taking a small bite out of it.
"Exactly. She can't do anything, but she told me she enjoyed sewing. Plus, I don't know what girls like! So you gotta go with me." I mumbled, finishing half of the bread.
"Ughh.. Fine, I'll go. Only because you desperately need my help." Dolores turned around to look at me, suddenly pausing to examine my face,"You should let me do your eyeshadow from now on."
"Aw, c'mon! It's not that bad!"
{Y/Ns POV}
That morning was uneventful, just as every other. I woke up, I made breakfast and then I cleaned the entirety of the first floor. Same old routine.
But my mind kept finding a way to wander back to the night before. What a colorful night.. But it wouldn't have been as much fun without Camilo there. I don't think any other memory could compare to those that I gained yesterday.
Once I finished cleaning, I propped a chair by the biggest window in the house. The town was usually busy at that time and along with the busyness came entertainment.
Once in a while, something funny would happen right outside. What had me laughing the most was when a man had almost been trampled by a stampede of donkeys that he accidentally let out. Apparently, one of the Madrigals had to go rally all the donkeys back into their pens.
I sighed, tapping my fingers on the windowsill, waiting for something.. anything to happen.
Maybe I should stop wishing for these things... because two seconds later, I had a heart attack.
A certain pretty boy decided it would be a good idea to scare the ever loving shit out of me by sticking his head out of the corner of the window, causing me to fall out of my seat.
"Ah, sorry bout that, bonita. Here." He offered his hand. If it wasn't him, I probably would've refused to take it, but he didn't really mean to.. at least, I didn't think he did, based on the look in his eyes.
He promptly helped me to get back up and I dusted my skirt off, giving Camilo a death stare. He let out a soft, nervous chuckle.
"Why are you here, Cami?" I crossed my arms and sat back down in my seat.
"To.. give you this!" He held out a basket, leaning over the windowsill to hand it to me.
"Hm.. I don't think I trust you..This isn't some magical prank?" I kept the basket in my lap, looking down it it with a raised brow.
"Of course not! I'll prank you some other time." By the quiet tapping on the wood, I could tell Camilo really wanted me to open it.
"That doesn't really help.." I slowly lifted up the piece of cloth that concealed the baskets contents, still believing that whatever was in it would jump at me.
Nothing happened, but my eyes widened at its contents. There was a little wooden box with needles, a pin cushion, spools of bright colored thread.. Anything I could ever need to sew.
"Wow, Camilo.. This is.." Camilo quickly cut me off, leaning over the windowsill, getting even closer to me.
"The best gift ever, right?.. right? I hope I got everything you'd need. Mirabel wouldn't get up and go shopping with me so I had to get Dolores to come along but she didn't know anything about sewing so I had to just ask the people I was buying the things from to see if it would work and that took a lot of time cuz most of the people were old-"
"Yes! It's perfect. Thank you." I put the basket on the floor with a giant smile and gave Camilo a hug. He hugged me back and we stayed like that for a moment before I pulled away, blushing.
"I uh.. baked some sweet arepas! And I have some caramelized apples to go with it. Would you like some?" I asked, standing up to prepare the dessert.
"That sounds amazing, sure!"
I hurried to put the arepas into a napkin, delicately placing the apple slices in between them. I made my way back over to Camilo, who now seemed to be talking to someone.
"Here you go, Camilo! I should hide the sewing stuff before my Tío gets home and go back to cleaning. Thank you so much, by the way! I'll find a way to repay you as soon as I can."
Camilo took the arepas and I noticed he had his signature grin smeared on his face again.
"No need, hermosa. This is enough.. And it looks delicious! I'll cya around!" I muttered a quiet 'see you', watching as Camilo walked away, but someone else quickly caught my attention. It was Camilos older sister, Dolores. I had no clue why, but she stopped by the window and looked me up and down with a smile.
"You're definitely his type..hm!" I heard her whisper with a small shrug before she quickly went to catch up with her brother.
I could feel my face getting pinker by the second, and I slammed the windows shut.
