As Sulfus and I walked, we came across a place where many people were sitting around and painting, something about this place made me feel relaxed and it was obvious Daniel has an affinity for art.
Sulfus offered to paint a portrait of me and I of course accept because, why not? It's not like we have anything else to do.
"Take your time, you don't seem like the artsy type." I joked, but really, I know Sulfus can at least draw well. Better than I can anyway.
Sulfus smiles. "Yeah, yeah. I got this angel, trust me."
"Oh the irony..." I rolled my eyes, but otherwise stayed perfectly still.
It took a few moments, then a crowd began forming behind him. I was confused, but after he finished painting the people behind him started murmuring.
"Such detail, especially in the eyes. You can see how much he cares for his muse!" A bystander said with a bright smile.
I tilted my head and Sulfus bit the inside of his lip, I could tell because his bottom lip always curls inward just a bit when he bites it. He usually does that when he's nervous.
So naturally, I walked over to the stand and looked at the picture. It was...
"Beautiful..."
I felt my face getting hot, it was a little embarrassing to see how I look in his eyes. In his picture I was smiling so bright with flowers throughout my hair. My eyes were mesmerizing, shimmering. It was like he drew the pattern of a firework in my eyes.
Sulfus cleared his throat, his ears a slightly lighter shade of pink than his face. "Um... What do you think?"
"I... Love it. It's so pretty, but is this really how you see me, Sulfus?" I asked, looking him in the eye, and he firmly nodded.
"Absolutely."
The resolution in his eyes caught me a little off guard, I almost forget how upset I was a few minutes ago, but then a cold chill ran down my spine and my head snapped in the direction of a certain devil.
"Sulfus... Maybe it's time to make our way back to the auto-sphere." I walked past him with, taking a long look at the portrait of myself before walking off.
Sulfus seemed like he wanted to say something but shook his head instead and began to follow me. We got to the sphere just fine and everyone was waiting for us, but I wasn't really in the mood to deal with angels at that moment. Let alone devils. So I got on without speaking to them.
The next place we landed was Istanbul. And it is so beautiful, I can't even. We went to a bazzar, an indoor kind of one, and it was a shoppers dream. I was looking at the scarves when Kabale got a devious idea.
"Let's take some of them." She whispers to Cabiria and I.
Cabiria shrugged, "I don't have any money."
I giggled, "Hey, she said 'take', not 'buy'. Anyway, as long as I'm not involved, I won't stop you."
Kabale gave me a low five and I walked away from the pair as they made their plan. I like art and stuff of that nature, kind of.
What I don't like, is running, which I have to do a lot of since Kabale was dumb enough to get caught stealing, and Gas broke a bunch of clay pots.
"Why did you have to get caught, I though you were better than that!"
Kabale rolls her eyes, giggling, "Come on this is fun too!"
"Maybe fun for you! You are a terrible devil!"
"Awe, that's so nice of you to say!" She stuck out her tongue and I split off from the group on my own to get away from it all, at least, I thought I was on my own.
"Tsk, tsk. You're a really slippery angel aren't you."
I internally sighed, then punched myself, and screamed, and mentally took a breath to prepare myself for whatever it is this damned devil wanted.
"Damien. What in the wings of twelve thousand angels do you want from me. Because at this point I want to run you over with a freight train."
Damien's lips curled into an enchantingly devious smile. Another charm spell, only powerful enough to gain my attention, but not much more than that.
"I just want to talk, I swear."
I walked past him. "Talk with that charm spell removed."
"Huh, you noticed? And it didn't work. How unfair. Anyone else would be fawning over me." He snickered.
"Then they're way too weak. I'm going to gag."
Damien walked quickly to block my path, folding his arms. "What is it about Sulfus that makes him different from me. I'm handsome, I'm smart, I'm confident, strong, persistent, rude, basically I'm a devil!"
I stare at him blankly. "He doesn't irritate me more than living in Angie Town for starters. He doesn't threaten my friends just to get a rise out of me. He doesn't harass me every time I tell him 'no' and he's also a lot more kind to me than you think."
"He's also obsessed with you, and I can see why. You're such an interesting little thing, I can't help wanting to mess with you." He slowly dragged his tongue along his bottom lip which sent a cold chill down my spine. "You're just as perfect as I've imagined."
I suddenly felt the need to spill out everything I've eaten for the last two years, it was like my stomach turned inside out three times over, twisted into a ball and squished itself to get or every bit of it's contents. Damien made me so sick I physically reacted to him, throwing up into a nearby trashcan everything I ate from the start of the day, and then some.
It burns the back of my throat and yet, even when there was nothing left I retched, and the only other thing that came out were the sounds.
Damien laughed, "How pathetic... But I like you nonetheless. I need you to do something for me, and I'll definitely leave you alone."
I took a break, coughing because my throat was killing me, and I looked at him.
Damien held up two star shaped pendants. "You and Raf need to wear these."
I almost snatched the pendents from him, glaring at him. "Fine! Done, now leave me alone!"
Damien chuckled, blowing a kiss at me. "I love you, pathetic little angel, I wish you would be more kind to us." He winked, them disappeared into the crowd.
'us' who is 'us'? That guy could literally die for all I care.
Hey wait a minute, his voice was different, wasn't it?
Nah, it must be in my head. That insufferable devil is constantly getting under my feathers, ugh!
