WAKING UP WAS AN UNFORTUNATE THING FOR SOMEONE TO GO THROUGH. Especially Rory, who spent a rather large portion of her night helping little old ladies find their purses after getting robbed on a midnight stroll. No one said being a vigilante was easy.
Rolling out of bed, the young girl hit the ground with a thud.
"You okay?!" A voice called from downstairs.
"Yeah, all good!" Rory yelled back, massaging the inevitable bruise site.
Standing up, the Morais girl walked out of her room and to the door next to hers. Opening it, she walked to the bed and sat on the edge.
"Buddy, time to get up." Rory brushed hair out of her brother's face. "Come on. It's time for school!" She said in feign happiness. Luis groaned and turned over.
"Nope, gotta get up dude. Let's go." Rory placed her hands under Luis' armpits and hoisted him up.
Placing his feet on the ground, the young boy groaned and fell forward onto his sister. Rory laughed.
"Come on dude, papa's making waffles." Rory tried to convince. Luis jumped up with a gasp.
"Waffles?" He repeated excitedly. Rory sat up on her elbows and laughed.
"Oh yeah, with whipped cream and strawberries just how you like it." She smiled. "Go get dressed and brush your teeth. We might even have time for two if you hurry."
Luis rushed to his closet and began digging through his clothes. Rory chuckled and walked back to her room.
Getting a simple outfit and her dirty white high tops, she brushed her teeth and hair and went downstairs. There, Manny Morais was flipping waffles and placing them on plates.
"Good morning papa." Rory kissed her father's cheek. Luis came rushing the stairs and into a chair.
Rory breathed out a laugh and grabbed two plates taking them to the table with Manny behind her. Placing one in front of the boy, Rory sat and dug into her food.
"Alright bud, we gotta go." Rory said as she placed their dishes on the sink. After helping Luis into his book bag, she grabbed her own and her skateboard.
