(Kirishima's POV)

I knew something was off the instant I saw N/n sitting alone. The blank look on her face worried me. Where was Mako? Was she shutting down?

I rushed over to her, grabbing her arms. "N/n! What happened? Where's Mako?" She looked up at me, her eyes flashing with recognition, and then she smiled. As real as it looked, there was no way it was a real smile.

"With Mina, where else?" She said, no hint of anger or hostility in her voice.

"But... It's the 26th."

"Mhm."

"Then shouldn't he be..." As I thought through it, the more sense it made. "Oh." I looked at Y/n's smile again and was overwhelmed with sympathy. "Oh, N/n." I wrapped my arms around her.

Her smile crumpled and her eyebrows furrowed, her breath becoming shaky. Her bottom lip trembled and she hid her face in my chest. I rubbed her back as she tried not to cry. Her nails dig into my skin, and she held her breath, gasping for air in pained sobs.

"I'm so sorry, N/n." I held her tighter.

"It's- it's our last -hic- year... Together. And he -hic- wants to spend it -sniff- with HER." She hissed. "I'm so... Mad. I hate it... So... So much! I don't want... To be mad. I'm... I'm NOT mad... I'm just... Disappointed." She sniffed.

"I know, N/n. But you are allowed to be mad. He knows how much this means to you, he shouldn't have done that." I stroked her hair and glanced up, noticing Bakugou standing in the hall, quietly, just watching. He looked worried. "Hey, hey. How about this. I'll come with you to your mom's place, if you want."

She shook her head and pulled away, rubbing her now puffy eyes. "I'll be okay." She said, and I knew full well she wouldn't. "I think I'm gonna go get something to eat." She walked away, not noticing Bakugou there, with the way her eyes were glued to the floor.

I walked over to Bakugou, frowning. "What- what happened?" He asked quietly.

"Mako made a stupid decision without thinking about how it affects his sister, that's what." I sighed, rubbing my temples. "She's too nice for her own good."

"You can say that again." Bakugou grumbled. "What did he do?"

"Well... It's their birthday. They always spend the whole day together, just enjoying each other's company, and doing little traditions they've done since they were little. But this year... Mako decided to spend it with Mina. On their eighteenth birthday. Their last birthday before leaving highschool, and, inevitably, splitting up." I explained.

"The amount of unspoken rules this violated between them is insane. First, they have never told anyone the exact date of their birthday, not even me. It took me years to figure out the exact day. Second, as many partners as Mako has had, they always agreed to put each other first. It's ended at least five different relationships if Mako's, just because he loves his sister too much. And third, they always spend today together. Always. Only their mom has ever been included in their plans. I don't even know how Mako imagined this could have been okay." I sighed.

Bakugou just looked pissed. "I'm going to murder that asshole."

"As much as I would love to agree with you, as I said, she's too nice for her own good. She would hate us if we hurt him just for hurting her feelings." I groaned. "Dammit, Y/n."

"Well, what do we do?"

"She refused to hang out with me, so I think she's still subconsciously trying to follow the unspoken rules, even though they've already been broken." I glanced up at him. "But she might listen to you. Maybe give her a little bit of time, but before she leaves to go to her mom's house or something, maybe ask to come along And don't mention you know, then she will feel pitied and she won't like that."

He nodded and glanced at her, as she stared blankly into the fridge.

I saw the way he looked at her, and knew. Although he had never given me a real answer, it was obvious. He loved her.

"Good luck, Bakugou. Don't mess it up." I nudged his shoulder, then left. My job had been completed. Now I could only hope Bakugou could do this properly, and cheer up Y/n. She deserved to be happy.

And her brother? Well, when he got home from his day with his girlfriend, I had the feeling I wouldn't be the only one giving him a piece of my mind.

(Bakugou's POV)

I was split between murdering her brother on my own and walking over to bring her out of her trance. I couldn't decide on which to do, so I left.

She was eighteen today, same age as me. Nine months and six days apart. I felt happy I knew. But at the same time, I felt horrible I had been able to figure it out due to the circumstances. I cursed, hating that she messed with me this bad.

I may not be as arrogant as I was back in first year, but I am still myself. It was strange for me to... Care... So much.

Suddenly, I heard the soft thuds of Y/n returning upstairs. She soon returned, dressed for going outside. She paused at the door, and I built up the courage to talk to her.

"Y/n." I said. She jumped, then turned to me with wide eyes.

"Bakugou." She said softly. Her voice was lower and scratchy, and her eyes were still puffy from crying. "Do you need something?"

"Where are you going?"

"To grab some breakfast... Nothing looked good." She looked away.

"I'm coming with you." I said. She frowned, her lips parting like she was going to protest. "I'm not asking. It's cold and early, and I'm hungry too."

"I'm going to a bakery. You don't like sweets."

"I don't care. I'll... Find something." I muttered. "I'll be right back. If you leave without me, I'll kill you." With that, I walked off. She watched me go, with an incredulous look on her face.

"Okay... Weirdo."
