CHAPTER 3:

I snapped up, careful of the shelf above my head. I swear there was someone watching me again. I seriously needed some sleep; tomorrow was Monday and I had school. But I sensed that something was in my room. By the time I turned my lamp on, whoever it was was gone. I squinted into the darkness, finding a note perched on my open window. I didn't leave it open. It was closed before I went to bed. I cautiously shuffled over to my window, scared something was going to pop out at me. I picked up the noted while closing my window. It said "Sleep well beautiful xx" How. Did. He. Know. Where. I. Lived.

The next morning, I woke up to find my window open again. I backed away from it, eyes open in terror. There was another note on it. I stalked towards it again. "I live a few houses away, so that's how I know where you live, beautiful. xx" Omigodomigodomigod how did he know? I was panicking. I didn't say it out loud. His notes always ended with some sort of "xx" and a beautiful in there somewhere. I shoved the note in my bag, making sure to lock my window. I pulled on a pair of light blue skinnies with a pair of red toms. I matched that with a leather jacket just ready for school. All morning, all I could think of was the note. How did he know? I slowly walked downstairs to the kitchen in a trance. My sister was wearing a completely new outfit,

and my mom was probably at work. "Mornin", I mumbled. "Goodmorning!"chirped Rosie. "Why so grumpy this morning?" she wondered. Oh well maybe you didn't have some hot stranger who you didn't know leave a note on your closed window, I thought. I told her I was tired instead. I grabbed my bag and left the house, still in a trance, remembering the note in the front pocket of my bag. "Summer!" I heard my sister yell. "WHAT" I yelled back,

annoyed. "Bye!" she started laughing. I would trade her in for anything anyday. God, was she annoying.

*20 mins later*

I made my way through the halls, rushing to get to my first period class, English, on time. Thanks to my idiotic sister, I was probably late. "Oh Summer, there you are." commented

my 11th grade teacher, Mr. Adams. "There's a new student, I was hoping you'd introduce him around the school maybe?" he continued. A new student? Now? Halfway through first semester? I quickly scanned the room, looking for a new face. Then I saw him. It was Tyler Evans. A face I'd never forget. Those piercing eyes and that sturdy jawline. I noticed he had the most perfect teeth. "Uh sure" I answered, although I was sort of scared. I sat down at my usual spot, curious where Tyler was going to sit. Oh great! Mr. Adams put him right behind me. I bit my lip, afraid of him behind me. It was him who left the note anyways, right? Halfway through class, I felt a pair of eyes on the back of my head. I casually glanced back, pretending to grab something from my bag. Tyler was

staring rock-hard into my eyes. I focused back on the teacher.

"You're dismissed for today!" noted Mr. Adams.

In a hurry, I gathered my stuff to head to the next class. Tyler trailed right behind my heels.

"Hey beautiful, you're supposed to show me around"

"First, I want an explanation." I took the note out of my bag, and shoved it at him. He raised his eyebrows.

"Hmm."

"Well..? How the heck do you know where I live, and what I thought?" I was now staring intently at him for an answer.

He said nothing. He looked at me with his head tilted a little, showing those adorable dimples. Instead, he grabbed my wrist along with the paper, pulled me out of school, and into the little forest nearby.

"Tyler." I hissed. "Tyler! Let go! You're hurting me." His expression softened, letting go right away. I rubbed my bruised wrist, and suddenly my shoes became very interesting. I took a peek at Tyler. His hair was all over the place, his turquoise eyes looking down, with a regretful look on his face.

"I'm really sorry" he mumbled.

He was around 6'1, with broad shoulders. I softened, surprised at his apology.

"Hey, don't be." I said softly.

"Please, don't be afraid when I do this. Please." he begged.

"Tyler wha-"

He cut me off. I was now on his back.

"Ready, beautiful?"

I swallowed. No, not really, I thought, testing if he could read my mind.

"Well then I'm doing it anyways."

I swallowed again. So he could hear me.

He took off and sprinted off into the farther part of the woods, with me grabbing onto him, afraid I would fall off.

"Tyler, what in the world ar-"

He cut me off again.

I was suddenly underwater. But I could breathe. I looked around. Tyler was beside me, his eyes glowing in the dark sea. Humans couldn't breathe underwater.

"What are you..." I whispered, looking into his eyes for an answer. He looked away, still holding my hand.

"You'll see, beautiful. You'll figure it out."

Huh, no I won't.

"Yes, you will, beautiful. This is only the beginning."
