Sable didn't want her life to be immortalized, and summarized, into pretty verse to be played on the lute. However, she's well aware of the fact that her life is the perfect muse for a tragic ballad of one of the damned, cursed, whatever that bards loved to sing about and people loved to hear. As much as she herself loved the romanticism of how tragic life could be, she didn't want it.
Though, she could hear the lyrics now. How they could compare her rise in the royal courts from commonfolk like a well played hand of gwent, how they could say she had a royal flush the way she laughed, danced, and slept her way to being someone important. She could almost hear the first crescendo of notes to show how life changing it was to meet Eskell.
The notes turning softer as they sang of what was supposed to be love, but picking up again when turned out for nought. The piece turning lower, darker, when she could picture the rough hand pressing on her chest and damning her to love one fully, wholly, or not at all.
She can't picture what comes next. Amber eyes, white hair, blood, and monsters become her regular life, but it's oddly some of her happiest. Notes can be struck in an uncomfortable way to show days of traveling with aching feet, sleeping on the hard ground, not being able to bathe and stuck with the stink of it. But also, a melody so soft yet passionate to cause the feeling of happiness when she would sing her own turn to a lute and a bard, poke fun at a stoic man, and by gods and Lilit, fall in love with the world again.
But, it is a ballad of the damned, and it would not be a tragic story without her whole world falling apart, with cruel words and crueler glares, and, of course, remembering that she was cursed so beautifully wretched that her heart would be crushed by the hand she hadn't realised was holding it.

this shouldn't have happened, but i am very attracted to henry cavill as the witcher and this was born. it's a little revamp of my old witcher fic that probably nobody remembers.
