I woke up from my slumber, the light of day hit my eyes from the window. I let out a yawn and stretched my body. Today is another day. I went into the bathroom and turned on the shower, the noise of the water hitting the shower floor filled the room. Steam came up from the water, hot, just how I like it. The water hit my face and drizzled down the rest of my body, shower time always brought me bliss.
I turned the shower off and dried myself with my towel, I looked into my mirror. I had black bags under my eyes from many sleepless nights, they are most likely permanent, my very pale body could be mistaken for someone with Albino, my black hair held no style as it was a complete mess, my back was slightly slouched as I stood and walked.
"So this is me."
I said staring at my reflection. I walked out of the bathroom and changed clothes. My style consisted of a white button up shirt and black sweatpants. I didn't even bother to put shoes on, they always felt so constricting, a simple pair of socks is more than enough. I traversed through my home until I reached the front door, I held the doorknob with my hand and closed my eyes, as soon as I open this door, sunlight is going to pour into my home, closing my eyes should let me have a little bit of an easier time adjusting.
I swung the door open as light seeped in, I slowly opened my eyes, it hurt a lot but I eventually got through it. As my eyes adjusted, I saw the outside, there were people chattering, kids playing, animals roaming. It was truly lively. I left my doorway and started to wonder around the town, I don't usually come out here often, but when I do it's for important reason, this reason happened to be different however. I needed to test my skills before the Hunter Exams, although I am a user of Capoeira, my body still isn't that strong, that's why I need to use more than just brawn.
I'm going to go out into the woods and try to survive for a couple weeks, I have 3 weeks before the Hunter Exams, that should be more than enough time to prepare.
I built up my courage and ran straight for the forest, I didn't bring any belongings or any food and water, I'm going to survive off of pure skill alone.
I ran and ran deeper into the forest, it felt like hours, I ran and ran until my legs gave out. I keeled on the ground gasping for air, I wasn't use to running that much, in fact I don't usually run at all. I observed my surroundings and saw immediately that I was lost, this is exactly what I wanted. However, running blindly like that was not a smart move, there could have been creatures on the ground that could have bitten or tripped me. I got up off the ground and quickly evaluated the situation.
I'm in the middle of the forest, whats around me?
Vines
Trees
Sticks
Rocks
Lake
Leaves
FishI stood still while thinking about all of my resources. That when it hit me.
If I'm going to be here for 3 weeks I'm going to need food, primary food here is most likely fish and animals, since fish are more vulnerable I should start with trying to catch them. I won't be able to catch them myself so I'll use the sticks and vines to make a makeshift fishing rod, I'll use worms crawling on the ground as bait for the fish to come out. Then I'll use the rocks and sticks to create a fire and use leaves to constantly fuel it. After I have my meal, I'll have to have a reliable source of water. Based on the clouds, we should be expecting rain in around a day and a half at the latest, I'll shape the leaves in a way that can catch the water, then I'll use tree sap to stick the leaves together and prevent leakage. If I set up enough leaf bowls, I should be able to have enough water for the 3 weeks that I need to stay here.
However, that doesn't help my shelter problem, I think the best course of action would be to use the sticks and tree sap to build the skeleton of the house, this way it doesn't collapse from a small gust of wind, then I'll use leaves and more tree sap to cover the outside, mud will also come in handy to reinforce it, I can also use a rock to hammer the house into the ground to keep it more stable.
After thinking all of this up, I decided to put it into action. I made the fishing rod and successfully put bait on it, I was able to catch fish and make food so I could eat. I also made a fire. I wasted no time in building my shelter after eating. I slept in a pile of leaves. Tomorrow there should be rain, then I'll be able to get some liquid inside of me. Tomorrow will be another day...
