2. The Ceremony

"Yes! It's Just where my aunt said it would be. Wow her people watching skills really are impressive" I mumbled to myself as I walked into the village just outside of the madrigals 'amazing' house

My tia had arranged for me to stay with some old friends of hers. The same ones that passed important intel to us or something.

As I was about to knock on the door, it was flung open and an older couple rushed out

"Mi chica wow, you've grown so much since the last time I saw you" the woman gushed as she dragged me inside "you were just a baby" she started crying a bit

"Mi amore, stop with the waterworks she just got here" the older man calmed her down

"Sorry about that I'm just an emotional person. My name is Carmen and my husband is called Mateo. We're your god parents" she explained 

"It's lovely to meet you both, I'm y/n but you probably knew that already" I said awkwardly as they started at me

"Ahahah you crack me up mi Amiga. Your definitely a candella" Carmen joked as she helped me with my bags

"We didn't know what you were into the days but we tried our best" Mateo said as he showed me my new room.

It was truly amazing. There was a double bed with yellow cushions and a matching yellow blanket. Hanging plants and fairy lights on the ceiling and a big window looking out onto the farmers crops. It was beautiful

"I love it padrinos, thank you so much" I ran up to hug them

"And we also got you a little something in your wardrobe" they continued. I opened the wardrobe up and to my surprise a traditional Columbian skirt was hanging in there.

"We thought you should have something nice for the ceremony tonight" they finished 

"Wow it's gorgeous!" I responded whilst starring at its smaller details. They left the room and I started unpacking 

———time skip to the evening———

"Y/NNN! It's time to go we're gonna be late" Carmen shouted from the hallway downstairs

"Coming" I replied as I ran down the stairs with my new outfit on

"You look stunning ahijada" Mateo said as he took carmens hand in his

"Why thank you, now let's get going" I responded excitedly as I dragged them both out the house towards the Madrigals casa

——At the Madrigals——-

There were hordes of people slowly filing into the massive house. Each one being greeted by the two door people. One was a girl, tall, muscular. That one must be Louisa I thought to myself. The other one shorter, male, was shape shifting to greet people. I was never taught about him.

As we walked closer to them the boy came and greeted us

"Ah Carmen, Mateo glad you could make it" he then spotted me standing next to them "ah and who is this?" He asked with a flirtatious smile

"Camilo meet our god daughter y/n. She's gonna be staying with us for a while" Carmen answered

"Well it is lovely to meet you miss y/n" he did a mock bow and kissed the back of my hand before leaving again. A slight blush formed on my cheeks

We continued into the house, there was festive music playing and flowers hung up on the house banisters. I was too busy looking around that I didn't notice I had bumped into someone 

"Oh my gosh I'm so sorry" I said as I helped her up. I quickly grabbed her glasses and gave them back to her

"hah don't worry, it happens" she responded with a smile "hey your the new girl right?" She asked

"New girl??"

"Yeh the whole town was buzzing about your arrival." She explained

"Why?"

"Well a visitor isn't exactly common around here. Most people grow up here and stay here. Or all there family lives here. Like mine"

"Oh well I guess I am rather a conversational topic then" I laughed 

"Yeh I guess u are, I never got your name. I'm Mirabel by the way" she held out her hand

"I'm y/n, it's nice meeting you" Before I could shake her hand she dragged me onto the dance floor with her. 

We were laughing and dancing the night away. Others joined us in the festivities and soon I felt a pair of eyes watching me

I turned around to try find the source but nada until I turned back to face Mirabel only to find she had been replaced with the boy from earlier.

"I see we meet again mi amore" Camilo says as he takes my hand

"So we do" I reply with a laugh

"Your dancing skills are muy buen" he continues "both graceful and elegant" I blushed 

"Well aren't you a flatterer" 

"I try princesa" he continued before everything was silenced. It was now time for the ceremony. Camilo kisses my cheek then disappeared.

The crowd split in two and formed a path towards the staircase where Abuela was standing. Suddenly a small boy appeared wearing all white. He must be Antonio. He was very cute I must say.

"Fifty years ago, in our darkest moment, this candle blessed us with a miracle.

And the greatest honor of our family has been to use our blessings to serve this beloved community.

Tonight, we come together once more as another steps into the light to make us proud." What a lie I thought, she almost killed my nana. She left her in her darkest moment so why should they be blessed too?

Abuela continued "Will you use your Gift to honor our miracle?

Will you serve this community and strengthen our home?"

As Antonio went to touch his door handle a toucan landed on his arm.

"Uh-huh. Uh-huh. I understand you. Of course they can come!" He said out loud

Just then a flock of animals came rushing into the house towards him. His door lit up and a figure of him talking to an animal appeared

I noticed there abuela given a sigh of relief before saying" We have a new Gift!"

(ALL CHEERING)

That was practically the rest of the night. We all ventured into Antonio's cool new room, danced a bit more and ate plenty of food. Just as I was about to leave I noticed Mirabel running out of Antonio's room looking upset. 

"Miracle wait" I called out to her as I ran to catch up

And you shall have to wait to see what happens. Sorry for such the long wait to update, my mock GCSE's have started and wow they are not fun.
