CHAPTER FOURTEEN
- THE MESSAGE
━━━━┅━━━┅━━━━"What the-"
Hyejin turned and ran out of the gym without hesitation.
Through the empty hallways of the school, she searched for Riki, who had probably already left. She looked everywhere for him, there was no place she didn't look.
Suddenly Hyejin bumped into something or someone, causing her to fall backwards. Hyejin let a little scream come out of her mouth, but stopped when she realized that she didn't hit the hard and cold floor of the school.
Instead, she felt arms wrap around her body, catching her. She gasped for breath. "Riki, is that you-"
"No," the person who caught her interrupted Hyejin's question almost immediately.
Hyejin pulled herself out of the person's arms and turned to look at the person who had caught her.
"Sunghoon?"
Sunghoon nodded his head, "Yes, it's me."
"What are you doing here? It's late and you should be home and-"
"I went to your house and saw that you weren't home yet, only Heeseung was there. We had been talking and he had asked if I would come and pick you up from here," Sunghoon interrupted again, "And who is Riki?"
"That doesn't matter," Hyejin quickly replied, "Let's go to my house. I guess you can stay for dinner. We are going to eat your favorite food tonight."
Sunghoon nodded up and down a few times and then walked out of the school together.
And Riki, he saw it all happen. All he felt was jealousy. Pure jealousy...
'Who is this guy and why does she act so different around him?'
-
Sunghoon and Hyejin sat on the couch watching a movie. Heeseung, on the other hand, was sitting at the dining table, chatting on his phone with his friends.
Sunghoon had realized, between the brother and sister not even a single word had been uttered. No conversation had come between the two since Sunghoon and Hyejin arrived home from school.
He gently stroked through Hyejin's long brown hair as she was lost in the movie. "Did something happen between you and Heeseung?" Sunghoon asked suddenly.
Hyejin turned her head toward Sunghoon, who was staring at her with concern. Almost immediately after, she looked at Heeseung, who was focused on his phone with his headphones on, and sighed.
"No," Hyejin lied, "I think he's just a little moody today and doesn't feel like talking. He has days like that quite often."
"Okay," Sunghoon nodded up and down a few times, letting it be known that he understood Hyejin.
"Let's continue to watch the movie," Hyejin smiled and returned to her position that she was also comfortable in earlier. So did Sunghoon.
-
Ding Dong...
Hyejin was startled awake when she heard the sound of a doorbell. She looked up and saw that she was in the arms of Sunghoon, who was still sleeping. She quickly removed herself from his arms and got up without waking him.
She walked to the front door and opened it. Her heart began to beat faster when she saw that Riki was standing in front of her, the boy who kissed her earlier.
He was dressed in a sweater and jogging pants, but still looked as beautiful as he did in his school uniform.
Hyejin looked back once more before she started talking, "What are you doing here? It's almost midnight," Hyejin whispered in disbelief.
"Forget the fact that it's almost midnight. We have a serious problem," Riki began, "You need to come with me."
"Hyejin," someone from behind her back said her name.
Hyejin turned herself around and saw a sleepy Sunghoon coming into the hallway.
"Who is this?" Sunghoon continued as he rubbed his eyes.
"I am Riki," He replied before Hyejin could do so, "Who are you?"
"I am Sunghoon. What are you doing here?"
Hyejin sighed deeply. Did boys always have to argue in her presence?
"I need Hyejin for something important," Riki replied, "So I'm taking her."
Hyejin widened her eyes when Riki suddenly grabbed her hand. She turned her head towards Sunghoon after that and gave him an awkward smile.
"And who do you think you are?" Sunghoon asked as he crossed his arms and tilted his head slightly.
"I'm Hyejin her boyfriend," Riki replied without even thinking about it.
"Boyfriend?" Sunghoon and Hyejin both exclaimed at exactly the same time. Both were shocked by Riki's answer.
Riki nodded up and down a few times. "And I need her, so I'm taking her with me. You'll get her back later. Bye."
He dragged her out of the house without even allowing Hyejin to put on her shoes, so there she was. In socks on the street, in the dark, on a cold sidewalk. Riki slammed Hyejin's front door and dragged her across the street, to his house.
-
"Boyfriend?! Just because you kissed me you're my boyfriend? Are you out of your mind?" Hyejin asked angrily as she sat down on Riki's bed.
"No," Riki replied immediately, "I'm taking you to my house for a reason."
"Then what's the reason?"
"We have a problem," Riki began, "A very big one."
"Explain," Hyejin suddenly became serious when she heard the word 'problem.'
Riki sighed and sat down on his chair that stood at his desk. "About an hour ago, I received a message from an unknown number. I don't even know how that person got my number. That message was a video. When I opened the video, I saw that you and I were on that film. They filmed it, Hyejin. They filmed what happened in the gym."
"So that means that we are-"
"Yes, Hyejin. You're right. We were caught kissing."
