Familiarity is not monotonous.

Familiarity is the soft smile that plays on your lips, your mind aware of what's going to come next, your heart reciting the procedure letter by letter—yet it has the ability to still make you feel  b e t t e r

A familiar rush through your bones, heat rising up your cheeks, your eyes sparkling, an insouciant smirk tugging your lips—you cannot help but feel f r e e

Wrinkled letters, inked dresses, bleeding fingertips, yet that smile that graces your face after writing a letter to your old friend.

Shrill kettles, cacophony of kids in your neighborhood, fighting couple, grinding metals may someday remind you of your youth.

Roadside vendors, aroma of black tea, school bell, fragrance of freshly brewed coffee; that beautiful nostalgia that runs through your veins, making you feel a l i v e

It is what familiarity is—I say, tracing the yellow pages of worn out leather bound books, to feel as if you are h o m e

Inside jokes, loud laughs, same chinese takeouts, re-watching movies; that glow that rests at bottom of your heart.

Warm hugs, sheltered kisses, cosy room, and fluff pillows, that euphoria that flows through your veins.

Countless traditions, weekly meetings, even once in a blue moon run-ins—that thrum of familiarity that burns in your throat, wild and gentle, making you like you are in c o n t r o l

but remember, familiarity isn't monotonous, it's something beautiful and agile, something set yet rough at edges, something just intimate yet untouched—and look around, you will find it waiting for you.
