If trauma builds character

I must be massive.

Although its not me

I learnt to separate

I would forget

But it's my second shadow

Thundering over us all

It is massive.

I was good at pretending,

Pretending it didn't exist.

Packed away in a bottle,

Until the bottle got too shaken.

The emotions went everywhere,

Now I'm cleaning up.

It's still there,

It's just no longer my shadow.

I'm now friends with the character,

It wasn't so scary after all.

Just alone and broken,

In need of a talk.

So I sat down to work through the trauma,

Now we're better than ever.

If trauma builds character,

I must be massive.
