I can feel a rocky, rough surface beneath as I flutter my eyes open. I see a black, human-like figure dragging me and I panic, struggling to get free.
The sun is slowly starting to rise as it brings me to the tiny, wooden building I use to kill all those innocents. It drags me inside and sits me against a wall. "Who are you?!" I yell, my heart hammering in my chest.
"Relax. It's me, Sam." It says. I look at it confused, then it hits me.
"Y-You were living inside of me?" I stammer, and she nods. I curse at myself for stuttering, because I'm not afraid of it.
"I was, but then you were turned. Then I tore your friends' hearts out!" She exclaims, and my eyes widen in shock and anger.
"You did what?!" I practically scream.
"Oh, come on. Don't tell me you're upset. You don't even like them!" She shouts.
"Doesn't mean they aren't my friends! If they're not alive, I will kill you." I threaten. She stares at me in shock for a moment before going back to her calm state.
"You need to feed in order to complete the transition." She blurts.
"What happens if I don't?" I ask, scared to hear the answer.
"You die. You have twenty-four hours to complete the transition." She explains. I nod and stare at the floor before standing up. "Wait," She calls. "You'll burn in the sunlight. You need a daylight ring."
"I don't have a ring, nor magic."
"Fine, I'll do it." She grunts.
"What? How?" I ask, confused. She grabs a ring and places it in a small slick of sunlight, holding her hands over the ring and whispering something incoherent. She picks it up and hands it to me. I put it on and slowly stick my hand out in the sunlight that has now appeared.
I don't burn.
"It worked." I state.
"I hope so." She mutters. I walk out of the building and to the city, Sam following me. I look at her but freeze when I see her looking – and sounding – like Evelyn.
"Why the hell are you disguised as Evelyn?" I whisper-shout, in case someone hears us.
"I seem to notice that you are rather fond of this Evelyn character, so, why not look like someone you're fond of?" She asks, explaining to me.
"You sound mature when you talk like that."
"Well, I'm sorry. I'm older than you."
"When were you born?" I ask as we start walking again.
