I looked at Keefe who was sitting on kitchen counter. "Are you okay?" I asked.
"Fine, I just couldn't sleep," He responded, hiding something. It wasn't obvious but if you've been friends with him as long as I have; you can tell.
"What's keeping you up?" I asked.
"Nothing, it's just..." He didn't finish.
"It's just?" I asked, prompting him.
"Hey Fitz," He said softly, this is probably the quietest I've heard him in a while.
"Yeah?" I responded, just as softly, sitting next to him on the counter.
"How would you react if I said I liked you?" He asked, barely audible.
"What?"
"Hypothetically, if I liked you, how would you react?" Nervously, he looked at me.
"I... don't know. I guess I'd be happy." I looked back at him.
"Why?" He stared off into space.
"What do you mean?" I asked, confused.
"Why would you be happy?" He still didn't look at me. Is something wrong? Is this supposed to be a confession? If it is I might as well take my chance.
"Because I like you," I said, thankfully, my voice worked properly.
"What?" He finally looked up. Tears in his eyes.
