Now that Zhenyuan had been sent to be a generic student, he was going to be found on campus more often. He didn’t like the idea of it, and the fact that he didn’t have any friends on campus didn’t help.

He had just received his breakfast and looked around for a table to sit on, but all the tables seemed occupied and none of the people sitting on them seemed friendly enough.

He decided to take a seat alone and started eating. He was still worried about what his father thought of him, but he had to focus on surviving each day at a time.

“Hey that’s Zhenyuan right?” Yaxuan asked his friends.

All of them secretly turned to the person who was sitting alone on his table, and they nodded at Yaxuan’s statement.

“What’s he doing here?” Yaxuan asked next.

“Well according to Jiaqi, his dad sent him to be a generic student because he was cheating on Jiaqi,” Chengxin explained and slightly laughed.

“That’s not funny.” Haoxiang commented guiltily. “This is all my fault. Just because I wanted to make…” he cut himself, not wanting to explain about Yaowen while Yaowen was right there. It wasn’t as if Yaowen had said anything to Haoxiang about the kiss anyway. It was like he didn’t even care.

“Because you wanted to what?” Chengxin asked curiously.

“Nothing, nothing,” Haoxiang changed the subject. “But this is my fault and seeing them all alone there makes me feel even worse.”

“So what are you saying?” Chengxin asked nervously. “Don’t tell me you want to invite him here. For crying out loud, his ex-boyfriend is my playmate.”

“It’s not like he knows.” Yaowen shrugged.

“Oh that’s a marvelous idea,” Yaxuan commented dreamily, putting his hands together. “I also don’t like to see him lonely.”

“Wait guys what if he recognizes me!?” Chengxin cried desperately.

“I’ll go invite him,” Yaxuan said as he stood up from his chair, ignoring Chengxin’s protests.

He walked over to Zhenyuan’s table, and Chengxin had now stopped protesting to avoid getting attention. “Hi,” Yaxuan greeted.

“Oh hey,” Zhenyuan looked up at him with surprise.

“We just noticed you’re alone and that’s kind of sad,” Yaxuan explained, playing with his fingers. “We were wondering if you’d like to join us.”

“Join you guys?” he asked in surprise, even though it was a delightful suggestion to him.
Yaxuan nodded. “My friend Haoxiang is part of the table, the guy who kissed you. I hope you’re no longer mad at him. He does regret it though.”

Zhenyuan looked over at Haoxiang who was also looking at the table. Haoxiang looked away once he and Zhenyuan’s eyes met.

“Sure, it’s fine. I do forgive him.” he nodded. “I guess he didn’t do it maliciously.”

“He really didn’t, so wanna join us?” Yaxuan pointed back at the table he had come from.

“Okay.” Zhenyuan grabbed his plate and walked with Yaxuan to the table. To Chengxin’s relief, Zhenyuan didn’t recognize him at all. Perhaps Zhenyuan had never even seen him before.
And that is how Zhenyuan started to hang out with the boys, and their crew of five turned into a crew of six.
