Phil's Point of View

'Hey, faggot. What's it like being lord of the gays?' Someone yelled.

Dan Howell.

He was the school's bully, and a homophobic asshole. I didn't have any problems with anyone else at school. Just him. His 'friends' found out I was gay a few months ago, when I came out. Nobody else in school minded, they were all really accepting. But Dan. Dan had some sort of problem with me. I don't know why. I hadn't done anything to him.

So I just ignored him and carried on walking to my locker. When I reached it I unlocked it and put some of my books in there. It was lunch so I only had four lessons left. German, Drama and double History. Unfortunately, Dan was in all of my classes, but his 'friends' weren't in Drama or History. All I had to do was endure the pain of German and then I should be fine.

I slung my backpack over my left shoulder and headed to find my two best friends, PJ and Chris.

Eventually, I found them in the cantine. They were sat with my other friends; Louise, Emma, Luke, Zoe, Alfie, Carrie and Charlie.

'Hey Phil,' Zoe said as I sat down with them.

'Hi,' I smiled.

'How's it going with Dan?' Luke asked, they all knew he bullied me, but the teachers wouldn't listen to any of them, despite their pleas.

'Alright I guess.' I sighed.

Before long, everyone was sucked into conversation again.

The bell had just rung, signalling the end of lunch, luckily Carrie had German with me, so we went up to the German room together.

'So how's it going with you and Max?' I asked.

Carrie's smile faltered at the mention of his name.

'N-not so good actually. We broke up.' She said.

'Oh Carrie, I'm so sorry.' I replied, pulling her into a hug.

I heard footsteps behind us. And then a patronizing voice again.

'Hey, Gaylord, how's your faggot kingdom going?' Dan sneered.

I pulled away from Carrie and walked right up to Dan.

'Alright actually, they've got a new museum exhibit actually, it's called: Dan Howell is a homophobic asshole who doesn't know when to shut his mouth and has banged more girls than Phil has ever known. So thanks for asking, my little kingdom's doing pretty great.' I looked him dead in the eye before walking back to Carrie.

Dan just stood there, astounded that I actually stood up for myself for once.

Carrie, on the other hand was giggling like mad.

'That was amazing.' She squealed.

This earned a slight chuckle from me.

'Thanks,'

We finally finished German after the longest forty minutes of my life. Dan's friends kept on throwing notes at me that the teacher didn't see.

I had drama next, but none of my friends were in it. Damn.

I made my way to the performing arts block and took off my shoes, Dan was close behind.

•Skipping the lesson please don't kill meh•

Drama was pretty average, I didn't have to do anything with Dan, thank god. And I had history next, with PJ, Chris and Charlie.

'So, most of you got good grades,' the teacher began as she handed out our test papers.

'The word most being the important part.' She sighed.

'Howell, Lester. I'd like you two to stay after class please.'

And so the lesson continued. We were learning about the first world war, which was actually quite interesting. But I still couldn't shake what Mrs Groves had said at the beginning of the lesson. Why did she need to speak to me? Why did she need to speak to me and Dan?

'And that's the end of the lesson guys, remember, Dan and Phil I need you to stay behind, everyone else can go. Have a good weekend guys.'

Everyone else soon left, leaving Dan and I in awkward silence.

'Right, Dan, as I'm sure you know, your history grades have been dropping. And Phil, your's are the best in the class, so I'd like you to tutor Dan every week until your GCSE's are out of the way. I've already spoken to your parents and they say that's fine. You'll also have to sit next to each other in lessons, okay?'

'But miss,' I began.

'No buts.'

'Fine.' Dan muttered.

After a few more moments of arguing and organising stuff, we were let out.

'Give me your phone.' I said.

'Why?' Dan snapped.

'So I can text you my address, dipshit.'

'Fine.' Dan grumbled and handed me his phone.

'My house, 2pm tomorrow. Bring your books. I don't want to do this any more than you do. I'll text you my address, just don't tell your friends. I don't want to be attacked.' I snapped harshly.

Dan just nodded and stalked off.
