well, valentine. what can i even say about it?
it's a day where people celebrate their love with their partner. a day to gift a box full of chocolate snacks to your foodie lover
yet im jiwon despises it. because her ex-boyfriend broke up with her on valentine one year ago
so here she was, working in a small cafè and selling sweets to couples that came here to celebrate
up until this day she still wonders why he broke up with her. was she not enough? did she not made him feel the happiest?
were those three years not worth it?
the sound of the bell snapped her back to her thoughts. her head raised immediately as her eyes darkened at the sight of her ex-boyfriend and her best friend
the guy she was still in love with, and the girl she trusts the most, were dating?
she knew how much jiwon still loves him with all her heart no matter how much time passed, and yet she decided to date him?
"shiyeon.." she whispered, watching her best friend and her new boyfriend holding hands and acting all lovey-dovey while sitting on a table. she clenched her fists, closing her eyes to suppress her tears as a sad smile plastered on her face
turning around the moment he turned to the direction of the counter, jiwon approached her friend
"take that order for me chaeryeong, please" jiwon pleaded her co-woker and friend, lee chaeryeong
"why? did they bothered you or something?"
"it's him. and who was once my best friend, dating. please chaeryeong, i'll make the coffees instead" chaeryeong nodded, understanding the situation
"alright jiwon" the older girl took her notebook and approached the couple, leaving the orders to her
"an iced americano and one pear juice" jiwon nodded, biting her lower lip to suppress her emotions trying to come to the surface
"are you okay...?" chaeryeong patted her back to comfort her
"y-yeah i'm fine" her shaky voice didn't helped at all
pear juice. his favorite drink. he used to order this everytime they ate somewhere that wasn't a fancy restaurant
he promised he would only order that with her. he promised there won't be anyone else than her. he promised he would never leave her
yet he broke all those promises
finishing the orders, jiwon placed them on the counter and signaled chaeryeong to serve them
"excuse me," a boy approached the counter. that voice, no. it was not who she was thinking "can i ask you also a slice of chocolate cake?" the girl froze
why among everyone, he had to ask her?
"y-yeah.." she cleaned her hands with a cloth and proceded to cut the slice, placing it on a plate
"you look familiar. are you perhaps im jiwon?" jiwon's eyes widened "am i right?"
"i-i'm sorry sir but i think you've mistaken me for someone else—"
"don't you remember me wonwon?" still looking down, she closed her eyes to suppress any tear to fall down
"don't talk to me heeseung" lee heeseung, the so-famous-ex-boyfriend, sighed
"i'm sorry wonwon—"
"don't call me like that" finally, a tear rolled on her cheek
"we're over heeseung. you and shiyeon can stay together now"
"you don't need to apologise for being happy.." she let other tears fall down as heeseung watched her, feeling guilty
"why among everyone you chose my best friend?"
"because... she's.. she's the closest to you" jiwon chuckled in amusement
"she's the closest to me so that you could see me broken?"
"it's because i'm still in love with you" a shocked looked formed on her face yet her tears never stopped falling
"oh please don't say bullshits heeseung" the older sighed, taking her hand and caressing it softly
"i'm not joking. i'm still into you"
his touch, it's so... soft. jiwon never knew she could miss it so much
"baby, let's begin again"
