I HEARD YOU SCREAMING. NIGHTMARES AGAIN?

Steve gasped hard, immediately got up from his slumbere, or so he thought. Quickly looked around, the room was dark but not too quiet, he could hear footsteps walking around his house. The door quickly opened, almost blinded by the light from the living room, “Steve! You okay?”, almost instantly recognizing the voice, it was Danno. Still on the full suit, he finally came home from work while Steve still recovers the loss of his former lover. Cathi, he thought she really be the one but again, he had lost someone who he had fell in love with.

Ever since then, Danno had been somehow needed to be there for his sake, like returning the same favour when his nephew had passed. Danno had been there as a companion, as his second in command, he was not a person to let out or talk out some stuffs with anyone but with Danno, he didn’t understand why he could, feel so vulnerable around his partner but even then Danno had lost his fiance by the hands of his own friend, a betrayal that they never knew would happen. Steve was there every step of the way, same goes to Danno, he told Steve he had dropped out of a date the moment he heard about Cathi.

“Steve? You Okay? Did you hear what I said?”. Those ocean blue eyes of his, felt warm yet calm, “Sorry Danno, what were you saying?”.

“I heard you screaming, nightmares again?”.

The lead detective nodded, “Yeah, just, still hard. What time is it?”.

“2AM”.

Steve stared at the younger colleague, still noticing the work suit on. “Just done with a case or paperwork?”. Danny nodded, “Yep, and bought some takeouts just in case, well, I’m gonna go home if you dont need me, sorry to bother you at this time by the way –“.

“No!”. Steve didn’t realise he had shouted that part loud enough, he quickly apologized and slowly he asked if Danno could stay for the night, beside they would only catch enough hours of sleep before coming to work tomorrow. Danno thiiught hard, not that he wants to reject the offer, but somehow he felt pleased.

“I would but I don’t have spare clothes on me”. Steve smiled, “I think my pyjamas should fit you at least, maybe a little loose but I don’t think you should be out this late”. In defeat, Danno nodded, “Okay, Steve. Just for tonight then”, and off hhe goes to shower and changed. Steve laid back down when he heard Danno coming in, wearing his clothes.

Steve gulped by the sight, it was indeed loose, Danno had to rooll up ost of the sleeve for his arm length, it looked so loose on him, like a child, almost made Steve laugh by the sight.

“Night Steve”.

“Where are you sleeping?”.

“The couch is fine, Steve, it’s long enough”. Steve shook his head, “Danno, my bed is big enough for the two of us, come on, I won’t crush you with my weight if you are worrying about that”.

Danny almost felt his face blushed reed, but didn’t say anything so slowly he climbed to the bed. Steve thought it be funny so he covers Danno, almost the whole man with the sheets, “Warm yet Danno?”.  Danno had his head out, “Very funny Steve, stop that or we’re not sleeping anytime soon”. Facing away from Steve as he tried to sleep but he couldn’t help but feel bad.
