Kaylee's Point of View

"No one wants to see that!" I loudly exclaim as I walk into the Gallagher kitchen and see Fiona and Steve making out.

"What are you doing here?" Steve asks, annoyed. I glare at him.

"I'm welcomed here more than you'll ever be," I state matter-of-factly.

"How was work?" Fiona asks. I have the opening shifts at the library every other weekend; we're opened eight to noon on the weekend.

"Good. I got paid to sit and do homework," I answer, popping a tator tot into my mouth.

Sitting down at the kitchen island, Fiona and Steve lean against it across from me. Fiona and I delve into conversation about how their water heater is busted, and that Lip and Ian are taking care of it. Steve sends slight glares my way every so often, clearly upset that I cock-blocked him. I choose to ignore him, my conversation with Fiona changing subjects to Debbie being upset with her for making her put the old, broken baby stroller back in the trash.

As I open my mouth to say something, I don't get anything out as I hear a baby crying from upstairs. Confusion starts to swim through me as Fiona sends a confused look to her boyfriend.

"You put Liam in his playpen for his nap, right?" Fiona checks with Steve.

"Yeah," Steve nods. I hop off the stool and follow the couple into the living room, where Liam is sleeping soundly in his playpen for his afternoon nap. Fiona carefully picks him up as to not wake him, handing him off to Steve.

"Grab the bat!" Fiona orders me in a hushed voice, pointing to the wooden baseball bat hanging on the wall. I take out my taser from my backpack, handing it to Fiona as I slowly creep up the stairs behind her.

As the three of us make our way onto the second floor, we can clearly hear rummaging sounds, but I can't pinpoint which room it's coming from. Fiona holds her thumb over the small black button on my teaser, while I slightly raise the bat up, ready to swing if needed.

Debbie pops out of her bedroom, and I have to halt myself from fully swinging the bat down and not bashing Debbie's head in. Her blue eyes widen, clearly as scared as Fiona, Steve, and I just were.

"Debbie! I thought you went to the park!" Fiona exclaims, breathing heavily.

"I did...but I came back," says Debbie.

"Are you okay?" Fiona asks, crouching down and placing her hands on Debbie's shoulders.

"Katie Casden's having a party..." Debbie says in a quiet, bashful tone.

"Katie Casden?" Fiona questions. She turns around to look at me and I shrug my shoulders; Debbie's never mentioned a friend by that name that she's met.

"It's two blocks over..." Debbie continues in that same bashful tone.

"And...did she not invite you?" Steve questions.

"She's only three," Debbie states.

"So, what happened? Are you okay?" I ask.

"Well...I was just walking past and her dad, he..." Debbie trails off. Fiona, Steve, and I all share a glance at one another.

"Her dad did what?" Fiona asks in a low tone.

"He was laughing and playing with them, and it just...wasn't fair!" says Debbie.
