Her eyes widened

"W-what?"

He scoffed with an irritated smile

"Are you going to deny it?"

"What are you talking about, Chairman Jang-"

"Stop fucking call me that! I know it's you, Veronica"

He yelled, gripping on her shoulders harshly as she widened her eyes a bit, her hands trembling because of fear and nervousness. She saw his eyes, there's no use lying anymore

He knew her too well

"I'm sorry"

She breathed out, feeling her eyes getting teary as he looked at her in disbelief

"Why... Why did you do that? Why did you leave us like that? Do you hate us that much? To the point you want to fake your death and fled somewhere else?! Answer me, Veronica!"

She kept quiet, making scoffed under his breath. He shake his head in disbelief

"You're amazing. You really are amazing, Veronica- You know why? Because you managed to fool all of us and work in this goddamn hospital happily, while I am suffering because I thought I lost you back then!"

He shouted at the end, tears started to flow on his cheeks

"Why did you do that?"

He whispered, gripping on her shoulders tightly as if she would run away. She stayed quiet. How can she answer that question? That she did it because of Vincenzo? Because she lost her trust on his brother?

It was all too overwhelming and shocking for her

"Of course. Why would you even answer that, when you are now happily living here, right?"

She furrowed her brows, looking at him as he smiled

"Sure. I'll leave you alone, just like how you wished it to be. Don't worry. I won't come back here and act as if I know who you actually are. From now on, you and me are strangers"

She widened her eyes, feeling the grip around her loosened as he slammed the door open, walking out. She quickly ran out to catch him

"Han-seo"

She called out, standing on the door but the man didn't seem to stop on his track

"Jang Han-seo!"

He halted in his steps. For the first time in 15 years, he once again heard her voice calling out his name. Another tear rolled our from his eyes, feeling her heart clenching at her cracking voice

She walked towards him and grabbed his arm softly, but he quickly removed her hand harshly. She backed away a few steps because of his harsh movement

"Don't touch me. Just as I thought I couldn't hate someone as much as I hate my brother, you managed to change it"

Her heart sank at his words. He walked away, leaving her alone as she stood there in disbelief. She quickly brought herself into her office back, collapsing to the floor. Not a single tear rolled out after that but she stayed there silently
