*Mallorie's POV*
I sat next to my dad's hospital bed as he slept. When did my life turn to this? I remember back when mom was alive and things were so different.
There were Doughnut Saturday's, dad would dress up as Santa on Christmas morning, and the house was full of laughter and music all the time.
Then- mom passed and everything changed. Doughnut money went to dad's cigarettes, and his adult drinks. Every ounce of spare money went to be saved in case dad needed bailed out.
I took on mom's role. I stopped going to school in person, I was home schooled. I was responsible for dishes, laundry, and keeping the fridge full.
I wiped my now teary eyes before I looked back over to the hospital bed where my dad now laid.
"Son of a bitch," I mumbled as I stood up. I was tired of staying. Maybe those nice people who are watching Nora will add another sibling?
