Yes, I'm starting yet another side project. No, before you run screaming or start bonking me or whatever, this is not another AToD. It will be no more than 40k words. It will be standalone. I will not get obsessed with it. Hopefully.
Anyway, welcome to The Heart Of Asariel! This is the first time I've attempted a book with such a narrow focus -- as in, it's not based in a pre-existing world and won't require at least a hundred thousand words to tell the tale (I pray) -- but I think it's going to be fun. If you're up for watching an idiot MC making a series of bad decisions, one of which is maybe accidentally a little bit falling in love, then climb aboard! :D
To force me to keep it short and not get distracted, this is written for this year's Open Novella Contest, based around Prompt 79:

Good luck to anyone else participating in the ONC! I took part two years ago and really missed it last year. It's such fun writing along with a community. And I'm glad I've chosen something entirely fresh this time, as strange as this feels. Where is my complex magic system? Where are my angsty shadow boys???
But hey, Micah promises dumb fun. It is his speciality, so I'll trust him on that.
