I blink open my eyes
The sun shines through the window lighting up the dark room
Birds sing and the wind chimes ding with each passing breeze
I sit up, soaking up the warm sunlight and listing to the sweet symphonies of the birds songs
"Mr.-" Jas opens her eyes and yawns
She soft voice harmonizers with the rings of the windchimes
"Morning sunshine" i stand up and open the window
a breeze rushes through the window, chilling the air
Jas shivers and sits up, holding the blankets close to her
"Well i have to go talk to your mom so i guess ill drop you off with jackie" i say pulling off my stained white tee and putting on a green polo
Jas nods with enthusiasm and jumps out of bed
I hand her her backpack and off the floor, pointing her to the bathroom she happily grapes the bag and sprints out of the bedroom
I take a deep breath, cold are chills my throat
I slid on a loose part of pants and throw on my blue hoodie
I walk out of the room and open the rest of the windows in the house
With each blind the room becomes more and more filled with bright sunlight
The air is still
the sense of loneliness fills the room just like it used to when i was always alone
Nothing but silence fills the room now
No birds
No chimes
No even the soft giggles of jas's voice
Nothing
I decide to make jas a little bit of breakfast before i walk over to daisies
I open the fridge and pull out a package of hot peppers and a brick of cheese i bought from a stand a few days ago
Setting the containers down i pull a large knife from the block
The package snaps with each prong opening
Crack, crack~
I pull out a few peppers and chop off the green stems
The fresh smell of peppers hit my nostrils, burning i turn my head away and i make eye contact with jas
Standing in the doorway with her sleeves rolled up
Revealing several cigarette burns in her skin
I drop my knife, it knocks in to container of pepper knocking it onto the floor
I run over and pick up jas , holding her tight to me
I feel her face against my chest and i can't help my mind starting to run

I cant believe daisy would be just like dad, covering her only daughter in burns
I remember how mom used to treat me when that happened, she always acted like i deserved it for being a boy. Saying it would "make me tough" but it never did, it just made me the mess I am today. Daisy always had special treatment. I think that's why she was so upset when mom and dad died. But I wasn't, I could care after the countless pains they put me through. Burn after burn, scratch after scratch, but im not letting this happen to anyone else
Especially jas
I set jas down and wipe her face
I can tell she sees the concern in my face
Grabbing her hands i inspect the burns covering her arms
"It doesn't hurt that bad" she whimpered
I run my fingers over on of the burns and she whines in pain as i do
Each burn is scabbed over
The rough skin sofly scratches my fingertips as the skins edges peel up
I let go of her arms and stand up
I walk into the bathroom and swing open the mirror cabinet and grab a pack of alcohol wipes and wrap bandages
I open the pack of wipes as i walk back over to jas
The scent of rubbing alcohol burns in my nostrils
I take a wipe out and fit it perfectly in the palm of my hand
The wipe is cold
As cold as the winter storm that just past
I go to wipe jas's arm
Gripping her hand in mine
But i freeze
I try to move my hand towards her arm but it does budge
I let go of the wipe
But the wipe doesn't fall
It stays in the perfectly placed shape of my hand, suspended in the air
I look up at jas
Letting her arm out of my other hand, it jerks quickly to her side
Her eyes are tightly pressed shut
Wrinkles cover her faces from the tightness
I hold her cheek
Her warm skin counteracts the cold residue left on my hands
She slowly opens her eyes
As she does the wipe slowly drops to the ground
It drifts in the wind and drapes softly onto the wooden floor
Jas runs up to me and grabs my shoulders
I close my eyes, leaning into her small hug
Her heavy breathing whistles along with the wind
And suddenly
The clang of a plastic container echos through the house
