Chapter 20

"Gaano ba kamahal ang ngiti mo at palagi kang nakabusangot?"

Tinignan ko si Leoj na nakangisi sa akin mula sa salamin ng vanity. He's sitting comfortably on my bed as he watches me fix myself for kuya's engagement party tonight. Isasama ko siya para lang may kasama ako roon. Tutal naman, wala rin siyang ginagawa. 

"I feel like I'm going to betray Perrie for attending this party," I told him.

I sighed as I pursed my lips. We're currently here at my condo. Last week lang ako umuwi dito sa Pilipinas dahil napilita akong pumunta sa engagement ni kuya at Yashinelle. I was shocked after receiving that news because everything just happened all of a sudden.
 
His love life is a mess, and I don't really understand if he's serious about this or not. Perrie's not telling me anything despite the fact that our communication didn't stop for the past few years. We still talk a lot, especially when I have something to tell her.

"Just attend the party for your brother. You don't have to please your sister-in-law if you don't really like her," he simply said as if my problem wasn't a big deal.

"It's not because I don't like her. I admit, she's nice, and he also loves Ramiel, but of course, my sympathy would still be for my friend"

"You can't do anything about their choices. Just let the destiny flow for them. If Perrie and Ramiel were really meant for each other, then fate will make its way for them," he remarked. "Anyways, tingin mo pupunta kaya ang ex mo roon?"

Bumalik ang panunukso sa tono niya dahil sa tanong na iyon. I knew what he meant by that. Tinignan ko naman siya nang masama. My head hurts whenever he teases me. I didn't know why I even allowed him to come with me. 
 
Sumama lang naman siya sa akin para makapagbakasyon dito. Kailangan niya ring bumalik sa Australia after dahil marami pa siyang naiwang trabaho. Leoj is my boss. He is the son of the former owner of a big media publishing company in Australia, where I am working. I hate it when he doesn't treat me as his employee whenever we are at work. Madalas tuloy kaming mapagkamalang couple ng mga katrabaho ko roon.

"I'm cool, whether he comes or not. And for your information, he's not my ex. How many times do I have to remind you that?" I snarled.

He chuckled at me. "Okay. Calm down."

He raised both of his hands in the air as a sign of defeat. I shook my head at him. I didn't bother to open a new topic for us to talk about again. Bumalik ako sa pag-aayos ng sarili. Ako na lang ang hinihintay ni Leoj. Siya ay kanina pa nakaporma. 
 
I stood up as I looked at myself in the mirror. I'm wearing an elegant, black one-shoulder dress. The dress suits my svelte figure perfectly. Lj bought it for me one time when I accompanied him to watch a fashion show in Paris. Ngayon lang ako nagkaroon ng pagkakataon para maisuot. My soft, curly long hair is loose. I leave a few strands of it in front of my face just to add a bit of style. My black spiky stilleto enhance the appearance of the dress I'm wearing even more.

"You rock it, Mayu. I hope you're done. I've been sitting here for almost two hours," Leoj spoke behind my back while his arms are crossed over his chest.

I laughed at his annoyed face. Alam ko namang kanina pa siya inip sa akin. Nang masatisfied na ako sa sarili, niyaya ko na siyang umalis. While we were on our way, I received phone calls from my parents and kuya, asking where I was. Dapat kasi, kaming pamilya ang mauna roon para salubungin ang mga magiging in-laws namin.
 
The venue is on a luxury yacht that kuya bought. It's at Cartel's resort in El Garda. I couldn't believe that he really spent so much on this. Mahal niya kaya talaga si Yashinelle?
 
I couldn't stop myself from thinking about that the whole time. Nang makarating kami sa lugar, madami ng bisita ang naroon. I think most of their visitors are their college batchmates, friends, work colleagues, and such. Pamilyar kasi sa akin ang iba.
