"You got this, son" dad said as he patted my shoulder with a bright smile that showed off his straight, white, and perfect teeth, "show them why they call you the King of the Ring,"
"Hermano!" A familiar voice whined making me look down as I felt a little hand tug at my shorts to see my baby sister, Soledad, looking up at me with those big wide hazel eyes and the cutest pouts I've ever seen, "Up!" She demanded and who was I to deny her? I bent down and picked her up and she beamed squeezing my cheeks in her tiny four-year-old hands before giggling at the fish face she created.
"You'll be great as always," mom said as she cupped my cheek before taking my sister from me since I'll be called soon and Sol didn't quite like being removed from my arms but I quickly assured her that I'll pick her back up when the fight was over, "but this fight will be your last fight, are you sure you're ready to retire?"
"Yes. I've been fighting practically my entire life and now I want to enjoy the rest of my life doing something else that doesn't involve getting my ass beaten every once in a while" I said and she nodded, "besides I think starting fresh will be good for me too after you know"
"What are you planning on doing then?" Dad asked but before I could reply I was being called to the stage and so with that our conversion was put on hold as the four of us walked out of the dressing room and made our way down the hall towards the ring where I could hear loud cheering from the fans. I knew my mom took Sol out of the stadium and into a private playroom where she can play while the fight was on. The last thing I wanted was for my little sister to watch me get my ass beaten. I mean she's seen the bruises on my face but doesn't know how they got there.
Before I forget, let me introduce you to my family before I get on the ring for the final time.
My father, Michael Gonzalez, is a 36-year-old CEO of his own construction company that he founded at the early age of 20. Yes, he was pretty young but my mother-who at the time was in her last year of college- encouraged him whenever he felt like giving up. Needless to say, a year after he started the company, he became one of the most well-known construction companies in California. My father is Korean-American. He's 6'1 1/2 feet tall with black hair and dark brown -almost black eyes. My grandmother is Korean while my grandfather is Costa Rican which is why he's got a Latino last name. Needless to say when my grandparents' got married my grandmother's family were against it and wanted her to end the relationship but she didn't and to this day they've been happily married for nearly 70 years.
