background- you and clay had your daughter violet 'Vee' and when she was 4 years old you went to visit a bunch of family in another state and you would be gone for a week but you came back early.

clay pov-

it was about 8am when y/n and i were talking and waiting for violet to get up and y/n got a phone call

"hello?"

"what?"

"really?"

"yes i'll be there?!"

i'm so confused and i wanna know what's going on

she finished the phone call and looked at me smiling

"i was invited to stay at my parents house next week because a bunch of family came to visit" she says

she hasn't seen her family in a while since we all live in florida and her family is about a 2 hour plane ride away and we never really bothered trying to get vee on a plane

"really? for how long?" i ask

"about a week probably" she says

she just looks at me silently asking if she could go while i stay here with vee so i just shook my head yes and she jumped on me super excited

while we are hugging i hear little footsteps walk towards us

"hi mommy hi daddy" vee says

"hi baby" y/n says while jumping off of me

she goes to vee and picks her up spinning her around i walk up to them and just hug my girls. these are the moments i will remember forever

y/n pov-

as i was almost done packing up for my families house i look at the time and it's 9:30pm and vee still hasn't gone to sleep and i have a pretty early flight tomorrow

luckily for me and clay 'uncle nick' is staying the night so he can watch vee when clay drives me to the airport

right as i zipped my suitcase shut i felt arms wrap around my waist and a face getting squished into my neck

"hi baby" i say to clay

i just get a muffled "hi" back

"i'm gonna miss you" he pulls his face out of my neck and kisses my cheek

"i know but it's only for a week" i smiled at him

i turn so i can fully hug him and he gives me a light kiss

"i love you so much" he says pulling out of the kiss

"daddy?" i hear vee come into the room

"yes baby" clay says not letting go

"can i sleep with you and mommy tonight since mommy's gonna be gone for so long" vee says sounding sad

i let go of clay and walk over to her bending down to her height and pushing her long y/h/c hair behind her ear

"i'm only gonna be gone for a week baby" i say looking at how upset she is

"that's so long though" she starts crying

i just pulled her into my arms and picked her up and held her close while kissing her head

and of course clay comes over and just holds both of us. i'm gonna miss my little family

we all lay down and vee was attached to me the whole night. she was laying very comfortably on my chest while i rubbed clays head and we all drifted to sleep
