Backstory: Isabella lost her parents at a young age due to poverty. She managed to board herself on a boat from the Dominican Republic to Washington Heights. While she was there Isabella was raised by her abusive uncle who would yell and lock Isabella in a closet whenever he was mad. Isabella was terrified and always made sure not to get him angry. At age 9, Isabella started to work in Usnavi's store in order to make money to pay the house bills.
