"It's been five hours how are you not done?!" Gojo complained.
He was sprawled out dramatically on the couch across from you, an arm over his head and the rest of his limbs thrown about carelessly.
"It's only been an hour and you've eaten a whole box of mochi and made me play two rounds of cards with you," you responded, not looking up from your work, "of course it's gonna take me a little longer."
"Wouldn't be complaining if you just came out with me." He grumbled.
You smiled at that and shook your head.
Finishing up the last of a paper and typing it into your computer, you placed it in your 'Done' pile and reached for the next annoyed.
Suddenly, Gojo sprang upright on the couch, his face brilliant with an idea as a sly grin spread across it. He walked to the kitchen.
"Pretty sure that was the last box, but there's those sour gummies in the-" you stopped shortly, seeing him walk over with two wine glasses and a bottle.
"No, no, no, I have to finish this, I can't be drinking." You said adamantly, moving your computer from the coffee table to your lap in an attempt to avoid the glass.
"Oh come on, just one? A compromise for not going out with me." He insisted and held out a glass.
Your eyes flecked annoyed from his, to the glass extended out to you, "Fine, just one, and don't fill it too much, and no more bothering me after this promise?"
You took the glass and he triumphed over his childish win, popping the cork to the wine and pouring you only a little.
"Not too much, and I will stop bothering you." He smiled innocently.
At least he listened to you that much.
• one hour and one full glass later •
He had only poured barely a quarter in your glass... the first time.
And after that another, and another, and another. By now it must've added up to a full glass and you were starting to feel a little tipsy, but you could still manage to do your work.
Gojo on the other hand was trying to balance the glass on his head while walking across the room on tippy toes. He wasn't quite drunk... yet.
"Put that glass down before you break it."
He groaned and tottered back to the table where the wine bottle lay, more than half empty.
"I swear you get even bossier when you've had a few." He joked.
"No you just get dumber and more in need of bossing." You scoffed, snatching the bottle away before he could grab it to pour another. "No more."
He looked at you with raised brows as you confirmed his theory and you rolled your eyes.
You turned your attention back to your computer in your lap, resting the computer atop your crouched knees and intent on getting the last few pages done.
He was still standing there on the other side of the table, he had rolled up his sleeves in the hours he lay on the couch, but stayed in his fancy attire despite the few clothes he kept in 'his' room. And he was staring at you quite intently.
He was being more annoying. Your eyebrows knit together in annoyance, a slight frown adorning your features, "What do you want? Sit down." You commanded unnecessarily.
Instead he plopped down beside you and threw his head back with a sigh, the force shaking you a little as the couch bounced and he moved his long legs in the space under your lifted ones.
His head lolled to the side, facing you and your face, scrunched in focus on your computer.
You were so focused on your computer, trying to fix the stupid formatting that moved every time you tried to type something. So focused on trying to fix it and keep it fixed you didn't notice him staring.
You also didn't notice the way he took his time to drag his eyes across every bit of your focused features, or his tilted grin as you clicked the keyboard furiously.
Or his hand reaching to tuck the strand of hair that had fallen in front of your face away.
Your face softened from its hard focus and you turned your head to face him. His face was neutral like his hand was casually fixing his own hair instead of yours.
He looked away, his gaze on the city lit up outside the windows. Buildings so bright they added a faint glow to your apartment, to his features. so calm and contently admiring them.
"You need to take a break."
You shifted your gaze ahead, just over your computer to take in the view of the city at night with him.
"I've been taking a break all day."
He smiled at that and turned to face you, "I don't mean sit around all day and mope over the work," he laughed, "you need to do something else to get your mind off it."
"Oh yeah? Like what?" You smiled, facing him as you rest your head on the back of the couch. "Go out with you and get drunk at a bar instead so you can pick up chicks?" You poked his arm and he mocked offense.
"Well, when was the last time you even got laid?"
You raised your brows in thought at the sudden question, adjusting your position, "It's been awhile, I'll admit."
He studied your movements, his head laying on the back of the couch, "And why's that?" He asked gently.
You heaved a sigh and started to focus back on the computer, realizing you only had a few pages left. "I don't know." You said contemplating.
"I guess I just don't like one night stands. I wanna get to know someone and-"
And I can't be so vulnerable with someone who's just gonna leave in the morning.
"really getting to know someone takes time, so I haven't been with anyone in awhile."
You were being honest, for the most part.
The couch shifted so slightly you wouldn't have noticed if you couldn't feel the heat of his body suddenly so close.
His hand reached over and gently closed your computer, drawing your gaze from the bright screen to his bright blue eyes, slightly lidded. His long white lashes almost brushing his cheeks.
His gaze was heavy with desire, but his brows were slightly knit with resistance. Torn between doing nothing or acting on his feelings as he was burning to.
The latter won.
His hand moved from the closed computer to your chin, gently smoothing a thumb over the edge of your lips, a smile tilting up the corner of his own.
His voice was so gentle it was barely a whisper, but with his face so close to yours you felt his words across your lips as they echoed in your ears,
"You know me."
