Drug Store Glamour (Poem)

There is something beautiful in uncomfortable glamour

Height gained from strained muscles supporting the shoe

A made up face which is

An idea turned into products

Sold for 30% off at drug stores

The form-fitting garments that cinch and pinch to

Make the mirror a lovelier place to look

For acclamation

The long talons protruding from

Our skin

That we paint with

Vibrant color

To convince us to

Be proud

Of our earthly shells
